I've used this guide exclusively when sharpening my plane irons, works like a charm

This guide makes sharpening chisels a breeze

Took me awhile to realize that my ridiculously off-center blades were the guide's fault

Would not recommend this guide as it is machined poorly and does not hold chisel's or plane irons flat for stoning.

This guide is easy to use and does not break the bank.

From what I can tell, all guides of this design in this price range have this issue

However, this guide will work just fine for your narrow chisels or if you're doing rougher cutting

The guide works well and allows me to get a good sharpening on my tools.

The guide tracked very well on top of my diamond stone plates which gave me a very straight cutting edge and flat bevel.

This is a pretty good honing guide in that it’s fairly straightforward to use and it’s of reasonable quality for the price.

This is a useful honing guide, and I have used it to put an edge on a number of chisels.

Don't waste your money on an expensive honing guide and diamond stone if your just the weekend

This guide worked well, for the money, This guide would not work on my 1/4” chisel

As for the actual product review, this guide works well with my plane irons, Stanley Sweetheart chisels, and even a Craftsman 1" solid steel contractor-style chisel

No experience with sharpening, and this guide quickly had my planer edge sharp

This is a great honing guide and the bonus is it comes with a pamphlet detailing how to use it properly

The guide is pretty straight forward, and it works well with chisels and plane blades

The guide is easy to use, just read the directions and apply a little common sense

This guide works great for most of my chisels but when I try to get the 1/4 inch chisel placed and locked in it takes an extreme amount of fiddling

I'm a two-stroke survivor with very limited use of my left side, and, as with much I try these days, using this guide proved unworkable with one hand, so another tool in the "these won't work" drawer

For its price it is a nice guide.

After about 50 - 75 sharpenings the guide will begin to wobble and it you are not careful, your bevel will not be square with the side of the iron, a somewhat important factor for plane irons

For my mortise and pairing chisels this guide works great for both

The first one I completely wore out under heavy use!This guide isn't hard to figure out, and can hold a variety of irons and chisels to achieve the proper bevel angle

I would say that this guide is invaluable in that process

There are plenty of resources on YouTube and elsewhere with detailed directions on how to properly refine the guide to better fit chisels

I did not drop it, bang it or otherwise abuse the guide

It has a adjustable guide for different sharpening degrees and all are right on

All in all I would recommend this guide to anyone, especially a new woodworker like me trying to learn how to get a good edge on my tools

The guides for chisels is difficult to get to hold chisel blades.

The guide worked just as described, and I hoped.

Looks like the guide would work for Paring chisels if the blades are at least 5" long.

the guide worked like a charm on my smoothing plane iron, but for some reason it would not hold my chisels, they kept slipping out

But as a DIY'er who didn't want to spend $$$ on a tool that I'll rarely use, this guide was perfect.

If you are looking for a cheap guide to get dents or chips out of the blade this is great but the wheel will stop working once you start to sharpen the blade

If you require more accuracy and repeatability in your tool sharpening, you should look at better machined guides

This guide may not be perfect right out of the package (at least mine wasn’t)

This is a cheap honing guide and is better then nothing when you are want to get a consistent stroke.

finally got some whetstones to try out, read the directions, worked very well; first time ever sharpening a plane blade so took a little practice but this guide makes the process much easier; takes the guess work(for me) out of making sure I'm at the correct angle
