ATLIN Honing Guide - Fits Chisels 1/8” to 1-7/8”, Fits Planer Blades 1-3/8” to 3-1/8”

    • Found I got best results holding the chisel tight on the end keeping the bevel level with the stone then adjusting the Honing guide and tightening.
    • Although I am effective free hand honing chisels and plane irons, this guide renders more consistent results allowing me to polish the whole ground edge, which holds sharp longer and brings pearing to a cleaner and safer standard
    • This will take a bit of practice, but once you get a "feel" for it provides spectacular results.
    • I think some additional general directions on sharpening techniques coupled with how to "move the guide" and where/how to apply blade pressure would help some of the folks who are not getting positive results with this honing guide
    • First use today, good results
    • This device should be sold only for sharpening plane irons, got excellent results in just a few minutes.
    • Properly mounted and locked as tight as possible, the results were far worse than hand-held.
    • It took some trial and error and practice to dial it in, but once I did, the tool did not move or slip at all in the guide...and the final results were razor sharp.
    • Have honed many old chisels and iron blades without any difficulty and achieved great results
    • Tried the pairing chisel placement with small mortise chisels, but same inaccurate result.
    • Knowing what I know now, I would spend more and buy the Veritas sharpening kit instead, which I did, and it gives precise, repeatable results.
    • It works with multiple types of blades and chisels with excellent results.
    • Relatively easy to set up with good results even for a beginner like me.
    • Wow the results I’m getting from this simple guide are outstanding.
    • The price was fair, the shipping was fast and the results were excellent.
    • I did make a couple of modifications to ensure that the guide holds properly but after that I was able to get repeatable razor sharp results.
    • I tried it on a chisel that had been misused for many years and the results were fantastic, I can almost shave with it
    • I am building my own jig and expect better results.
    • good results.
    • I messed up a few blades and will spend a lot of time correcting the skewed edges resulting from the use of this thing
    • After these interventions you may get some good results from your sharpening efforts.
    • For years I have been sharpening chisels by eye and not getting great results.
    • Again, nothing specifically wrong that could be changed, it is just inexpensive materials, and you get inexpensive results
    • Much better results than trying to hold them steady by hand.
    • This thing is super easy to use and gives quick, reliable results.
    • Easy to use, I use it to sharpen my 1 1/2 chisel with great results.
    • This guide along with some diamond sharpening plates gives me consistent results.
    • I tried free hand sharpening first on some cheap chisels and got decent results
    • There is nothing specifically wrong with it, per say, however, you can not get consistent accurate results from it
    • I followed Atlins set up instructions and was amazed how easy it worked and how nice the results are
    • n’t anticipate any difficulties
