I replaced the antenna with a Diamond and it has much better range.

So I have changed my review from 1 star to 5 star because the uhf with a 16.2" Nagoya antenna has awesome range!

Great size, easy to carry, has good range for a 5 watt so long as trees and mountains are not in the way, good clarity .

It transmits and receives fine in the 2 meter band but the range is limited only to that band.
