Range is pretty good for its size.
-
more range is useless since you have to match other person's channel if other person use the old version.
-
Planning to get a NA-701 antenna to improve range
-
Works nicely, haven't tried it outside Amateur freqs yet, but range, and power, with stock antenna is better than other HT's I have had in past
-
I have used other Baofeng radios as walkie-talkies and the range was much better than the Motorola talk-a-bouts we had
-
And He Discovered That It Has A Excellent Range On Simplex And Accessing The Repeaters.
-
I have Yeasu FT-60R that I use and the range and reception and filtering on the Baofengs are almost indistinguishable
-
The range is excellent.
-
Has good range, but you need either an electrical or computer degree to program it as the instruction are confusing at best.
-
If your require greater ranges upgrade your antenna purchase the High Power (UV-82 HP) version.
-
Good range and fits my hand well
-
When paired with the extended antenna the range is great for a 5w handheld
-
Awesome battery life and range
-
Willl probably need longer antenna for better range, but over all a very good radio
-
The range is absolutely spectacular with the other antenna I bought
-
There is a cheaper model, the BF-888, which are OK, but the UV-82 has so much more, including a better range.
-
Cons: not field programmable, no option to power it issuing regular batteries (although you can get an adapter to run it directly from a 12 volt source)Pros: decent range, reception and filtering on par with most big brand HT; can't beat this price
-
Useful for the greater range it provides
-
far, I've found the audio to be perfect, the range to be good, and user interface to be "friendly".I strongly recommend you get the programming cable and download the "CHIRP" programming software
-
The 10" BaoFeng Antenna is an added bonus to already impressive range.
-
Plan on adding a higher gain antenna for reliable range, the factory one is good, but typical of HT antenna's.
-
The optimal range is hard to narrow in on as the knob is stiff right in this range for some reason.
-
Great little radio for the price (spent more on accessories), pretty good range for a portable.
-
Good range, clear voice reception but low volume.
-
Good range, good quality for the price.
-
Long range capability, at least 4 miles
-
The optimal range is hard to narrow in on as the knob is stiff right in this range for some reason.
-
Great radio great range
-
Just picked up this radio to replace a Wouxon radio that has known factory defects that they wont fix as well as to replace my Anytone mobile radio that was stolen when my car was broken into and i must i a pleasantly surprised by the quality and function
-
Programs weird a and software is flakey but the hardware is rock solid and (as a ham
-
It just /works/, it works as you'd expect, it feels GREAT, it sounds GREAT, audio reports are GREAT, battery life is /insanely great/ in comparison to the UV-5R, its subtle operating changes to be more efficient than the 5R are
-
Programming the radio is just as easy as the 5R as it uses the same operating system
-
They are a little longer than the Bao Feng UV5R, which I like as it fits my hand better.
-
I'm guessing the radio has increased in popularity as it has suffered from price creep, now at $49 here on Amazon
