    Baratza Sette 270 Conical Burr Coffee Grinder

    • The set screw uses a brass threaded insert and there's only about 1/16" of not-very-strong plastic holding the whole thing together (as you can see in the photos below), so if you put even the slightest excess force on the set screw the collar will definitely break
    • On further examination I found that the little cylinder (stop collar) that clamps down onto the steel stem of the portafilter holder is made of relatively poor quality plastic
    • Although I purchased mine used from a friend of mine, I love its concept, but based on reviews and my friends experience with this grinder I've read, the gearbox is prone to premature break downs due to the use of cheap plastics
    • Or perhaps they knew it and tried to save a small amount of money by making the part from cheap injection-molded plastic
