It takes care of the previous LOUD/soft levels, pretty much capping the loud (and yes, it does sound a bit compressed, but far better that than digital distortion).

The Volume control doesn't add any noticeable noise at any reasonable level - even at home, where there's minimal background din

So, in order for me to get a consistent level on the live-stream I had to constantly adjust the input faders for the live-stream PC.
