The 70 bucks more you spend will be worth it vs the headaches you have trying to figure out why you're having issues (drivers or popping sounds).

No noise, clean sound

This preamp is a Midas preamp(see front panel of unit) which has given me nothing but clean sound.

It plugs into the Mevo Boost USB port and fires right up supplying excellent sound and plenty of control of my audio signal into my streaming setup, without any outside power needed (pulled it right off the camera setup).

That's not as crazy as it sounds

and it's got great clean sound and easy use

Final sound is almost like a professional studio

That being said I do prefer the sound of the Modulus' phono stage to that of the PS

Overall very difficult to use and get a good sound.

Setting levels is part of the key to getting a good sound, you do not want to over load the front-end in the UMC204HD and illuminate it's clipping LEDs, neither do you want to clip your recorded waveform as presented by Vinyl Studio...you need to have the volume up enough to minimize noise, but after a few recordings it becomes no big deal
