  • The first one I tried after reading a barrage of good reviews in Amazon is Polk PSW 10, which to be very honest with you should not be called a sub woofer, because it all it does is some rumble sound and no base, next I tried the HSU STF-1, which I must say a fantastic product, had I have a bigger room and more powerful speaker set I would have settled for it, but my speakers were too small for it, so I finally ordered the Bic 1020, after researching that it has almost similar spec as with the STF-1, and boy what a choice, it is a perfect match for my system

Reviews around setup (5.00 of 5)

  • I had to downsize from an awesome 7.3 setup to a bedroom setup
  • We have a moderately good surround system setup, with a Denon receiver and Boston Acoustic cube speakers (7.1 channel) in a large family room (26'x20'x10'ceiling & carpet) and the subwoofer fills the room with quality sound.
  • In short, it's more than capable for someone looking for a nice way to boost their home-audio setup for a relatively low cost

Reviews around quality (5.00 of 5)

  • I also personally like the silver black appearance of the cabinet, and the build quality is excellent.
  • Anyway, like all of the other BIC speakers that I've been using for the last year, the build quality is superb
  • Sound quality was initially impressive, but I waited a few months before forming an opinion (break-in period)
  • the only good thing i can say about this sub is the build quality is pretty good but that is with any BIC product.
  • Sound quality is awesome... for my "on a budget system"

Reviews around base (5.00 of 5)

  • There is an old saying, "Location, location, location", and this applies to subwoofers as well as to real estate.
  • so it was free, but based on the performance of this unit I would have gladly paid $400 or more for a good subwoofer
  • I've placed it in the corner of a 12' X 15' den and the base is solid
  • The base is perfect and also comes with a frequency adjustment knob which helps you to fine tune the base output from your system
  • Nice, tight, low-end base (not as low as some sub-woofers I've owned in the past).

Reviews around way (5.00 of 5)

  • Also, you can BARELY hear some sublag (this is when the speaker has to work its way up to the full potential, and can affect the quality).
  • In short, it's more than capable for someone looking for a nice way to boost their home-audio setup for a relatively low cost
  • This way I enjoy my front channel bass while getting atmospheric bass from the subwoofer and direction sound from my T15s
  • I purchased some years back,I can't remember what I paid but it is still going strong today and I love the way it makes my music sound nice and punchy and not to boomy pretty accurate bass.

Reviews around crossover (5.00 of 5)

  • After using the mic to run the calibration on the Onkyo, the correct crossover was determined and a smooth bass that blends seamlessly with the music was quickly dialed in.
  • I'm actually a big Yammy fan but wanted one with a dedicated LFE input and adjustable crossover.
  • Once you've broken this puppy in and have found the right crossover for your main speakers, try several locations to see how it performs in your environment.

Reviews around subwoofer (4.60 of 5)

  • While it's true you probably can't get a better subwoofer for the money, it didn't meet my expectations
  • I purchased this subwoofer using my credit card rewards
  • This thing really rumbles, especially for a reasonably priced subwoofer.
  • If you are looking for a great sounding subwoofer look no further
  • This is a decent subwoofer although I think you could find better on the market.

Reviews around thing (4.26 of 5)

  • The bottom line, this thing is really great for the price.
  • The most important thing to know about this sub is that the built in crossover for the Dolby Digital is useless.
  • the only good thing i can say about this sub is the build quality is pretty good but that is with any BIC product.
  • Well..this thing did the trick..it will shake the windows and is very tight in the low frequencys

Reviews around value (4.16 of 5)

  • Others have said that the Bic V12 is a better value and I have no doubt that a 12 inch front firing sub will put out more bass than the v1020 however as I write this the V12 is 30% more $ and substantially larger
  • this may have a lot to do with it in my opnion.overall its a fine value for the money and compares very well to subs costing a good bit
  • There is an old saying, "Location, location, location", and this applies to subwoofers as well as to real estate.
  • I feel this is an awesome value for what it is and am quite happy with my purchase
  • Incredible value, you won't be disappointed.

Reviews around sound (3.99 of 5)

  • It's quite accurate and responsive and adds plenty of oomph for movies and good low end sound for music.
  • A little on the big side as far as size goes but excellent sound
  • It's definitely not bad, but it's really somewhat muddy sounding, and not all that powerful for a 10", 160-watt, powered subwoofer
  • I was really suspicious of that route but it is totally quiet, transparent, and introduces zero hum, buzz, or hiss sound, whatever to the desktop speakers
  • Bic makes a solid heavy speaker with excellent sound for the non-audiophile that can tell quality, but can't justify the expense when the family just wants to enjoy and impress on movie night

Reviews around price (3.61 of 5)

  • This thing really rumbles, especially for a reasonably priced subwoofer.
  • Being working for over 40 years, but it's a pain).Considering the price, I'm upgrading my rate from three to four stars
  • i get the whole burn in time for subs, but this sub is barely a 3 star sub and it gets that due to its cheap price
  • So far, we'd have to say this subwoofer is well worth the modest price and should be a great addition to most any mid-level home theater system.
  • Either are well worth the purchase if you can get them for the right price.

Reviews around speaker (3.61 of 5)

  • so, if you buy really cheap bookshelf speakers, that can't supply some lower bass, you'll have some gaps.

  • I have seen kids poke and smash speakers... so the down firing sub helps prevent that
  • I use it in a 13'x17' space that is open at one side and it's paired with a set of 5 Energy Take Classic speakers
