Recording volume levels using this device are almost identical to the recording volume of a Shure SM57 quality microphone that is USB powered but not amplified, which is to say totally inadequate and probably indicative of using common existing types microphone capsules in the Blue Microphone that are designed to other types of electronics, without adding the pre-amp needed for them to produce enough recording volume for use with a computer.

The sound records crystal clear with audacity and I would suggest this for anyone who wants to decent mic, without the pricetag that usually comes with premium microphones
