Looked around to find a decent scan tool for my vehicle(s), settled on this one.

A wonderful tool to have.

If your are starting to get into repairing and diagnosing your car, spend the money and get the right tool the first time, especially for beginner mechanics till you go pro and maybe even after that, this tool will still help you.

On tool - no, but unless you're actually a full on mechanic with a shop and tools enough to run your own garage this unit will do any and every thing you need for home diagnosis to make sure that you aren't getting taken to the cleaners for bigger repairs in garages as well telling you what you need to know for those smaller DIY jobs

I only use this tool on occasion when a problem creeps up

It probably could some day, if the Mfgr wanted to go there (please do IMHO), but what it does is inform you what things are doing under the skin, and fixes mechanics have done to repair any of those issues that show up, so you can make informed decisions...and is a great tool for having serious discussion with your mechanic about any issues

As far as I know, one would have to spend $1000 + to get a better scan tool.

What I finally figured out with the help of this great tool, was that the knock sensor was setting a pending code while I was driving over some very rough road, but not activating the CEL until some time later.

Well, with YouTube and discussion forums and lots of modern mechanics willing to share AND tools like this doohickey here, newer vehicles are now not the mystery they once were AND with car makers making parts that are at least componentized, a guy can read codes, trace down the areas of concern and fix his own car again
