Bodum Chambord French Press Coffee Maker, 1 Liter, 34 Ounce, Chrome

    • Yesterday morning as I was pressing down the filter, the glass exploded, splashing piping hot coffee on my abdomen
    • The glass broke within 2 weeks of use
    • There are two problems, (1) the glass seems very thin and fragile - it doesn't inspire much confidence as to its longevity when you're using it (I wouldn't recommend using a metal spoon to stir in the glass, I use an upturned wooden or bamboo spoon) - (2) the glass seems a poor fit with the metal frame that it sits inside (it feels loose and the most recent replacement glass - the worst of the lot - was such a poor fit that if I held the handle and shook the press, the glass container rattled inside its frame
    • Total cost if you break the glass once: $46.72
    • The vertical frame looks very cheaply made but that isn't as important to me as the glass, so when I finally broke both my presses, I chose to replace the Bodum instead of the much nicer looking Mr. C that broke more easily
    • The french press glass is very high quality and has a great weight to it, however I was disappointed that the glass body was loose from the metal frame and so it does move around, I have to be careful when cleaning or serving from it or else the glass might slip out and break.
    • These products are made of the most fragile and low-quality glass imaginable, the slightest bump or spill in the sink will render yours useless
    • We’ve used these for years, but needed a new one due to the kids breaking the glass of our older one.
    • The larger one showed up and worked as well as the first, but the glass was so loose in the frame that I was afraid it was going to fall into the sink and smash to bits while pouring
    • After 2 years of use the glass cracked.
    • To me the glass seems remarkably brittle
    • So I am looking for something with better glass
    • The glass is also quite durable, have put it through some pretty dramatic water temperature changes and have had no cracks or breaking
    • Bottom glass cracked within 4 months of basic daily use.
    • Glass broke 4.5 years later.
    • Glass moves and can easily break!
    • This does not see a ton of usage, as I am not a heavy coffee drinker and I have already had to replace the glass in this once from washing and barely bumping it against the side of the sink.
    • The glass cracked either from boiling water or pressure when pressing it.
    • The glass could definitely shatter if it was roughly handled or dropped in a sink, but if you are careful this french press will last for years to come.
    • The chrome band at the top is too loose to securely keep the glass from sliding out when cleaning and the clasp at the bottom of the handle is not mechanically sound (easily separates from the handle).
    • The glass is incredibly thin, the frame rattles, the handle wiggles, and the lid does not quite close
    • Its glass and mine broke due to being carless and it bumped against something
    • Broken glass on shipment :(
    • I have to hold the hot glass so that it doesn't come falling out of the metal holder
    • Also, I like to "temper" the glass by running it under warm water before I pour the coffee water in, just to avoid shocking the glass
    • Fabulous glass press to make hot or cold brew coffee
    • The glass on this is very fragile, I always clean by hand in the sink applying a very small amount of pressure with a sponge
    • I would think the glass would be more durable.
    • The glass is warped and is much thinner
    • It seems the current version is cheap - glass is thinner, metal is not as good, and the plunger seems cheap.
    • I'll fix it by adding some thin silicone pads in the frame so when tightened will hug the glass more effectively
    • Love the chrome and glass.
    • it is glass and will break easy, but that is not the case; the glass is quite resiliant I do have to admit that I am on my second one because it did break, but it is because I dropped it on a tile floor.
    • Glass pour spout broke when it tapped something as I was taking it out of the dishwasher.
    • This also means you can't turn it upside-down to clean it after use without removing it from the metal frame, which is obnoxious because obviously the glass would be very hot at that point
    • I'm very happy I tried this as well as that it worked out on the second try
    • The plunger felt loose in the carafe and was held in place by plastic, and after just a few hand-washings the filter lost its shape and no longer filtered as well as when it was new
