I don't know the technical limitations of developing such cable, but you would think they would have this problem solved already

Only cons I can think of are the somewhat short audio cable and the ear pads have split open on both sides

Good but the cable is easy to crooked and not working

The audio cable is incredibly cheap

I frequently get the cable caught on various things as I am walking around, but the cable simply gets pulled out instead of strangling you or breaking the headphones

First set I got from Bose would lose sound in 1 ear cup if the audio cable was ever so slightly bumped or jostled

If you lose or damage the cable, you now have to hunt (and pay a higher price) for a cable that will fit it

The cable that comes with the headset is a little skittish.

The original version had a great headphone cable that made a solid connection to the headset and was insensitive to strain

The external cable is not broken or frayed and is not the cause of the malfunction
