I purchased the QC 30 from my local Bose store a few days ago and have already been using them during my daily commutes on the DC Metro as well as in the office (where I sit in a cube farm next to some loud salespeople on the phones all day).

These earbuds cancel the noise but not as good as an over the ear headset.

I like this a lot as you don't have to take off the headphones and then put back on--you can just detach the earbuds and let 'em dangle until you need to stick 'em in your ear again
