    Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive

    • It sounds good when used on the top boost amp channel and pushing it even harder, but frankly I think it sounds best when used simply with a good clean tone on the amp
    • I was just starting to take guitar seriously, and I was wanting distortion for my Crate G-10 amp.
    • It makes dynamic amps like Fenders and Voxes sing while tightening up the response sort of like a compressor.
    • I use it to boost an overdriven amp already, by itself on a solid state and pretty much in any application you can think for it because I like to experiment as a bedroom strummer
    • Clean amp setting with the Super Overdrive kicked
    • My experience with this pedal is actually a bit different than many of the reviews here; I have primarily used the SD-1 as a distortion pedal with my solid state amp (mid-80's 35W Sidekick Switcher) and a Telecaster with Fender Noiseless pups
    • sound a bit different, so it could just be my gear, but I have to say that while I love this for a tube-like drive for a solid state amp, it sounds cheesy with actual tubes.
    • i was using a line 6 solid state amp
    • I like the Boss Overdrive for fact that it a great booster to your amps own overdrive or distortion
    • And that's the way I've always played it, running it behind an MXR micro-amp clean
    • Great for finger tapping and pinch harmonics, the SD-1 is without a doubt the best thing I could have ever done for my cheap Acoustic G-10 amp
    • I like to use it to warm up my cleans and push my amp (like a booster) and then turn it up just a tad more for that nice bluesy thickness with my tele
    • I use the SD-1 primarily for worship music in our church's band and have it going into the front of a clean amp (a Tech 21 Blonde).
    • As with any overdrive, this thing will not sound very good (IMHO) running into a solid state amp.
    • If you have a good metal amp that can stand for a fair shot of juice, this one will definitely provide
    • It took my cheap amp and turned it into a bone crushing metal machine
    • sound a bit different, so it could just be my gear, but I have to say that while I love this for a tube-like drive for a solid state amp, it sounds cheesy with actual tubes
    • Back then I had cheap guitars with crappy pickups and solid state amps that were thin, sterile, and lifeless.
