I picked this up in order to boost my gain on my amp a bit.

The Boss Super Overdrive works well with both pickup types and can have a good "bite" if you want.

It has a bit more dynamics for smaller amps IMO, and delivers a great full bodied nice overdrive tone in itself for about the same price

And the overdrive has a great bite.
