Brother MFC-J480DW - Wireless Inkjet Color All-in-One Printer w Auto Document Feeder, Amazon Dash Replenishment Enabled

    • Wouldn't work half the time, goes through ink so fast and cartridges are crazy expensive
    • Its monitor is highly obnoxious, too---it refuses to print unless irrelevant ink cartridges are replaced.
    • Only a fool like myself, would think that Brother's "cheap" ink cartridges are a good reason to buy this printer
    • Half the time the GENUINE cartridges tell me they can't be detected (on all colors, including black) -- I have to insert and reinsert them dozens of times to get them to detect only to arrive home one day to once again find them undetected
    • For the record, I've only used genuine, new Brother cartridges
    • We bought this printer because Brother seems to have better policies regarding ink cartridges than other printer manufacturers
    • have had this printer since october with moderate use and the original cartridges are still going strong with no sign of low ink
    • nicely featured printer, with cheap replacement cartridges
    • and wow now it doesn't even recognize the yellow cartridge
    • Not the fastest printer but the print quality is great and it has very affordable generic printer cartridges.
    • so good brother printers are my only choice all the others fail in comparison and ink is much cheaper with 4 cartridge printers then the terrible 2 cartridge types
    • I bought compatible print cartridges and it is working just fine.
    • It's bad enough that we sometimes have to waste whole cartridges of new ink because the printer won't read it as a full tank, and there's only one chance for that cartridge to be read correctly.
    • Tried less expensive non OEM cartridges, but the MFC would not recognize them.
    • Replacement cartridges impossible to decipher and find
    • The worst thing is that Brother had never programmed their printers to reject 3rd party cartridges
    • Brother denies this they just use the excuse that the do not "guarantee" another ink cartridge
    • Prints just as well as the first cartridge that came with the printer, but so far after using this printer lightly for 9
    • Update:I’ve had the printer for awhile now and it devours ink, I was constantly replacing expensive cartridges for the tiny amount of printing I do
    • She offered to replace the cartridge since the printer is still under warranty, but said that if we accidentally remove the wrong cartridge in the future we will have to call back to get another replacement cartridge from them.
    • Not very bulky and yes, you get amazingly cheap ink cartridges from Amazon.
    • Free" replacement cartridges will arrive in three to five days
    • All other features work as they should
    • BTW don't update the firmware as it can mess with generic ink cartridges.
    • Printer works as it should - the only complaint is that we have to turn on and off every time we want to print wirelessly.
    • The print quality is fine, and it is as slow as has been reported in other reviews
