I've had for a month and added brother original ink and still prints light on normal setting, but when I set it to best printing preference it works okay , looking into a Canon, ink is to expensive these days, like anybody else I've use a compatible ink and buy cheap printer, if I get a year out of it with knockoff ink , it was worth it!!!!!!

Not to mention the now worthless ink I just purchased

The ink has really been great at $30 for multiple sets of color and black cartridges allowing my wife and I to print more than we ever have in the past in our home

The ink is inexpensive and I hardly have to order replacements because of the slow printing which helps keep the ink yield low

It prints a ton on one pack of ink, and their ink is so much cheaper than epson ink ($20 compared to $60)

Having used refillable cartridges on other printers, I searched for, and quickly found compatible carts and ink for this printer

This printer replaced an HP printer that had ink problems, connection problems, no communication problems etc, etc etc

Literally one day after writing this printer a 5 star review I found out that this it uses the same terrible ink-selling tactics that most other printers use, unfortunately

The printer does not waste ink while idling, like some HP printers do, nor does it constantly make that very annoying clickety-click noise, needlessly burning up ink while idle.

They said when it cleans it uses up ink

The internal cost savings of purchasing brother ink sets of between 15 to 18 a month for all the printers seemed to be the answer for cost savings but we are now realizing productivity in some instances is suffering at a much higher cost to the savings of more expensive HP ink on more reliable printers.

For under $50 I walked away with a brand new printer and enough ink to last about 2 years!!!

Also, when yellow ink runs out, the printer does not print black and white, but the quality is not good at all, the ink is relatively cheaper but overall, depends on usage volume and materials, do not fall for the price of ink cartridges

I also like the fact that ink is cheaper and the it has a cartridge for each individual color.

It works well, but manages to waste ink somehow

Had some issues with the scanning function and refurbished version I received from amazon warehouse seemed to neglect to clean the ink channels because my yellow ink was tainted with blue

It coast under $100.00 and works like a champ, as long as the right ink is used, that won't damage the print heads

It also indicates the ink is low when it still has a fair amount of usable ink left in the cartridge.

I picked this over Cannon and Epson because it doesn't have the annoying feature of bugging you to buy genuine ink or harassing you to sign up for their autoreplenish program every time you print

The genuine Brother ink is very affordable compared to HP and Epson and it worked great, BUT only for the first 3 months.

It worked awesomely for like 3 prints, then the black ink was gone (which after only 3 small printing jobs should not happen)

EASY set up, more user friendly, better print quality than the Epson I just had, cheaper ink by far and the ink lasts longer, also it isn't programmed to self destruct if you you use non name brand refill cartridges.

Ink is not as easily available, but hasn't proved a problem.

The ink to this printer is very expensive because it barely lasts.

Before I was getting a printer every 6 mounts, when I was using the wrong ink.

Only a fool like myself, would think that Brother's "cheap" ink cartridges are a good reason to buy this printer

We bought this printer because Brother seems to have better policies regarding ink cartridges than other printer manufacturers

Switched from HP printers due to their excessive ink costs, thogh brother is less, doesnt always work with their cartridge issues

So far I have not found a way to make the settings stay the way I want them so every time I use the printer I have to tell it again to use ink saver mode, etc.

With that inexpensive ink and the consistency of the printer and scanner this has been a winning combo for me.

Ink is not readily available for purchase at local stores

Plus, it's super cheap to run since the ink is so affordable

This is a great printer, the only downside is the amount of times it turns itself on and wastes my ink

This printer ran out of black ink within 3 weeks of printing 4x6 shipping labels, so the ink is an issue, I even have the settings tuned to where it shouldn't use as much

Not very bulky and yes, you get amazingly cheap ink cartridges from Amazon.

Its monitor is highly obnoxious, too---it refuses to print unless irrelevant ink cartridges are replaced.

They work great and you can get cheap ink for them.

In researching how to fix the cyan issue I was advised to unplug the machine, open the scanner cover, and wipe any splattered ink from plate under printer head

Then it finally starts half printing, failing, retrying, wasting paper and ink

I baught one of the opened and returned printers and it looks like the previous owner used all the ink and returned it

Ink appears less expensive than competitors, so far everything is very positive.

It will not recognize the brand new genuine brother ink.

That's covertly shady when you consider how expensive ink is despite how cheap it is to make, and we just accept it as their practice.
