I manually put in a static IP address in the printer then the computers finally found it and we could finally print.

I do not use a static IP address on this installation

They even attached a static IP address exclusively for this printer

The Wifi setup is correct, use static IP, set the sleep to the maximum, 50 minutes

The Brother technician told me that this will continue to happen unless I obtain a static IP from my internet service provider, which is costly and only available for business (as opposed to residential) accounts.

I then tested the scanning feature and the software couldn't find the scanner, even with the static IP I gave it.
