so I bought new cartridges and it did not work
-
I ordered one of their "genuine" ink cartridges (which was, of course, more expensive) and I heard nothing for 20 days
-
And cartridges are hard to find.
-
My HP (one I replaced with this one - my fault not the printer because I dropped it and it exploded into lots of plastic bits) would only use genuine HP high $$$ cartridges and that stunk.
-
love the individual ink cartridge, I got tired of tossing out ink that only had one color empty
-
This was my main gripe with my previous HP printers that I was forever buying very expensive ink cartridges, and the cartridge did not print many pages.
-
4.5/5 stars for me, setup had a couple hiccups, had to clean out the black ink cartridge with a q tip, and on my macbook I had to go into printers, delete the printer
-
So the price of compatible ink cartridges doubles for awhile before volume increases and prices drop
-
I already have researched where to get compatible cartridges, so that expense will be minimized when the time comes to refill
-
The straw that boke the back was when I installed a new XL color cartridge and the printer kept telling me that the cartridge was bad ( it was an original HP inkjet printer cartridge)
-
Called CS again went thru their super cleaning process which once again used up all 3 of the color brand new expensive ink cartridges
-
I tried cleaning the ink cartridges a few times, but it did no good.
-
The Brother website claims this is to prevent the printer from damaging the print head because of empty cartridges, but there should be a manual override to force it to print black-only when you have a perfectly good and full black ink cartridge like I did
-
The cartridges are more expensive, too.
-
I followed the troubleshooting steps, but it usually took until the next day for the cartridge to being working following the reinstalling procedure.
-
It also eats ink and will not recognize less expensive cartridges.
-
But, I have to say that unless you are a low volume user (like < 10 pages printed a week) and mostly use for scanning, I wouldn't use this as my primary printer - this or any inkjet for that matter - the cost per page is too high and changing cartridges is a pain.
-
I should have realized earlier that Brother makes a good, reliable machine instead of wasting time on another brand's printers, which have seemed primarily aimed at making me buy expensive ink cartridges alarmingly often
-
They force you to buy all of their expensive cartridges and if one of the four is low it refuses to print
-
Cheap cartridges and works great!
-
The cartridges are expensive and small.
-
My HP (one I replaced with this one - my fault not the printer because I dropped it and it exploded into lots of plastic bits) would only use genuine HP high $$$ cartridges and that stunk.
-
The print is outstanding, I like having different cartridges for each color and black, I can replace what I use
-
The thing I love most about it is the ink, the cartridges are cheap, I am using generic and they work just fine, and they last a long time, I mean a really long time.
-
Large cartridge should equal more ink - reasonable profit should trump that feeling of getting screwed - but we all know the easy solutions to this problem.
-
I replaced the yellow cartridge (genuine Brother, cheaper at Staples than Amazon).
-
It's good enough for a cheap printer, but you'd better have spare cartridges handy, and my yellow Brother™ ink ran out incredibly fast, and the new one is on its way somewhere - and I cannot print a shipping label until that new, expensive ink cartridge gets here

I like the 4 separate ink cartridges that allow to only change the color needed.
-
This disables all printing even if its just one cartridge that cannot be read
-
Make sure it uses knock off cartridges (both my Samsung's, a B&W one and a color one, do just fine with them) and print away.
-
Put in new cartridge and wont work
-
Loving it as I did with my 2013 model.
-
As usual though, there's too much B.S. with the driver's not working as they are supposed to work
-
n’t believe how good of a value this is
-
Small prinjust love this t on features
-
Very good I liked it
-
Will not work with 5G says fine print
