Brother Wireless All-in-One Inkjet Printer, MFC-J491DW, Multi-Function Color Printer, Duplex Printing, Mobile Printing,Amazon Dash Replenishment Enabled

    • So far the ink hasn’t dried up and needed to auto clean like my Epson used to; wasted so much ink.
    • , I love that the ink isn't too expensive (especially compared to ink for HP, ouch).A lot of people have brought up slow printing which can be a problem with Windows
    • so the ink I had on my broken printer with full ink does not work with the replaced one
    • - I've had a few brands of ink jet printers in the last few years, and this one has the easiest ink change I've ever experienced.
    • I have bought 2 inks and still not working.
    • So the price of compatible ink cartridges doubles for awhile before volume increases and prices drop
    • And the ink is super cheap
    • Cheap ink
    • The ink is much cheaper than my other printer
    • The ink is really inexpensive and the printing quality is as good as what our school copier is capable of
    • Easy to setup, reliable, and the ink is affordable!
    • The ink is cheaper than HP
    • They purposely make it impossible to use other compatible ink, so don’t waste your $$....
    • Better of paying more for a machine with better ink usage
    • Ink leaks
    • I should have realized earlier that Brother makes a good, reliable machine instead of wasting time on another brand's printers, which have seemed primarily aimed at making me buy expensive ink cartridges alarmingly often
    • works great hard to find products (paper, ink, etc) that work well with it, but very easy to use, and i am happy with the prints that i get from it.
    • The wi-fi will not work no matter what I do, it doesn't detect the ink (even though they're full), and after dealing with those issues by hard-wiring it and having to do some serious magic on it to even read that there is ink it just ups and will not work no matter what I do today
    • Bought an expensive Brother all in one because I was sick of ink costs and was told the better quality the printer the cheaper the ink.
    • It isn't really the printer I dislike but the fact that it sucked up ink
    • it freezes up, and gets stuck in a menu until you put in the right ink-it doesn't clean itself just stops working.
    • Some documents had missing ink and lines.
    • And I'm not using the cheap knockoff ink either.
    • The only way to print a sheet is to move to "highest quality", spend 5 minutes on a single sheet on word, and destroy the printer and ink in 7 more days
    • Thing I like about Brother printers is how affordable the inks are, much more so than Canon and HP
    • Cheap ink with separate cartridges for color, has a bunch of features for its price point, never whines or complains-- just prints stuff.
    • The key is that the ink is the least expensive as well, a win/win.
    • The printer worked just fine for a while, but then there was a software update that made it so that it was unable to read anything but "genuine" Brother ink, so the full ink cartridges I had in there previously are now useless
    • It worked, the ink was provided and most printer I buy do not.
    • This thing consumes ink for no reason and then refuse to print anything if even one (barely used cartridge) is mysteriously empty, even though you never print color or even print anything for months
    • I ordered one of their "genuine" ink cartridges (which was, of course, more expensive) and I heard nothing for 20 days
    • It doesn't waste ink and prints wirelessly with ease
    • Also, the ink is affordable
    • We are using authentic Brother ink (says Imobella) and the screen is not registering the magenta, cyan, and yellow cartridges as full
    • The print quality is amazing, ink is affordable and I'm just so happy with this.
    • Excessive ink usage, all pics had a pink shade.
    • This was my main gripe with my previous HP printers that I was forever buying very expensive ink cartridges, and the cartridge did not print many pages.
    • This printer sucks ink like crazy, and it's not cheap
    • We use it occasionally for light printing every now and then always with authentic Brother ink cartridges purchased from Amazon
    • Well, after just 10 months of random usage, it will no longer recognize genuine Brother ink.
    • I haven't ordered any ink yet, but bought this model because the ink was less expensive than my previous Cannon.
    • Now I'm tired of having a printer that doesn't work no matter how cheap the ink is
    • The Brother website claims this is to prevent the printer from damaging the print head because of empty cartridges, but there should be a manual override to force it to print black-only when you have a perfectly good and full black ink cartridge like I did
    • It makes no sense to me not to provide the most common interface in the world.- Expensive ink Cartridges.
    • It is so frustrating we are buying a new printer because the Brother brand ink for black is $19 and at the rate this printer sucks up ink a new printer will be cheaper in the long run.
    • It only works w/genuine Brother ink, & it won’t work unless all the ink cartridges are full or engaged
    • Wanted to get cheaper ink with the Brother.
    • The ink for this printer is way cheaper than the ink for a Cannon or HP and that surprised me (approximately $30 for all 4 cartridges VS $30 for 1)
    • This printer sucks ink like crazy, and it's not cheap
    • Now half the ink is gone just like that
    • Ink is expensive and there are not many options for third party ink
    • The key is that the ink is the least expensive as well, a win/win.
    • Some priters were better in quality and size, but this one has affordable ink refills
    • The ink is much cheaper and so not only is the printer inexpensive but the cost of using it less expensive
    • I highly recommend not purchasing their overpriced ink refills though! One note
    • Cheap ink with separate cartridges for color, has a bunch of features for its price point, never whines or complains-- just prints stuff.
    • This printer works fine ink is cheep color is grate hook up time under 10mi.
    • It doesn't waste ink and setup was fairly straightforward and easy
    • but I didn't have enough ink in another cartridge to do so
    • It's a great printer for the price and the ink is also very cheap
    • expensive ink refills!
    • Best thing is that ink is available at very reasonable price.
    • The ink is reasonable and seems to last quite awhile.
    • I've never had a Brother product before, but I read many reviews and decided on the Brother for the positive reviews and the inexpensive ink.
    • Also there is a dedicated black and four primary color cartridges like canon so you don’t waste ink like HP with their single color cartridge.
    • Ink is easier to change
    • It sucks up ink and pulls paper in but only begins to print on the second paper, so the first is wasted or I need to separate it and put it back in the tray after the 2nd page is printed.
    • I did not noticed taking too much ink as others complains or using extensive ink in cleaning
    • It has a ton of auto-maintenance jobs that it performs which cannot be disabled and it consumes ink like crazy.
    • The ink and the printer itself are affordable, and it completes exactly what I need.
    • This printer is very slow and guzzles ink
    • Called CS again went thru their super cleaning process which once again used up all 3 of the color brand new expensive ink cartridges
    • The real issue is the ink.
    • It does the job, however I was never able to completely clean the magenta print head in the initial set up (small dots stayed missing in the print quality page and I gave up after using a LOT of ink), but haven't really noticed issues from the actual print of missing ink.
    • Knock offs are not that much cheaper that it's worth it to chance clogging the printer with inferior ink
    • Slow and wastes the ink (which in general doesn’t last long)
    • Great performance and the ink is a decent price.
    • so I do not know how long the ink will last etc but so far so good
    • Love these printers in the cheaper ink supply
    • I was happy that the ink was less expensive, but now I know why.....because you have to change it all the time
    • Overpriced Brother Ink.
    • Ink is super cheap
    • Two tries with Brother support and they determine I had bad ink.
    • That was another thing I wanted to ensure that the ink was not expensive when I was choosing a printer.
    • Package had wrong ink (all Y's)
    • It's good enough for a cheap printer, but you'd better have spare cartridges handy, and my yellow Brother™ ink ran out incredibly fast, and the new one is on its way somewhere - and I cannot print a shipping label until that new, expensive ink cartridge gets here
    • so that should say something about the crisp ink and quality of color
    • It's all about the price of ink!I buy low-end Brother printers because they work fine, and inexpensive 3rd party ink generally prints OK
    • Ink is definitely cheaper than what one would normally buy, and it prints fast enough
    • But, the printer is designed to frequently "clean" itself, which just means that it wastes all your expensive ink
    • Like most printers these days, it wastes a lot of ink "testing" the ink whenever you put in a new cartridge and cartridges do not last very long (I miss the days of old printers that were much better built and lasted longer)
    • The last one had enough starter ink for about 10 pages.
    • The price for "genuine" Brother ink is outrageous at about $65 for a high-yield refill.
    • Great price and the ink is inexpensive too.
    • Ink is less expensive by about $45% (Brother brand carts) and the thing just works
    • It worked for many years, replacement ink was cheap, generic ink was available
    • Easy to set up (installed on the wireless network perfectly the FIRST try!), the automatic duplexer works nicely, and it has separate ink cartridges so you don't waste ink
    • Also, the ink with these printers was extremely expensive.
    • Hopefully the ink is still working in a month.
    • now we have to order the expensive ink specifically for this machine
    • The printer is inexpensive and the ink in reasonable.
    • I enjoy the quality of the prints and the ink seems to last longer also love the customer service
    • If you don't have a large volume of printing to do, it seems to be a good cheap printer and the ink isn't that expensive
    • so it is necessary to go into the main menu and scroll thru way too many other menus to do something as simple as clean the ink heads
    • Most critically ink cartridgeswere very expensive suggesting a 4 cartridge ink set would approach the cost of the printer.
    • And it is really fast; much faster that my prior Canon and Epson (which I threw away by its costly inks!).
    • My Black & White Ink is available but the Yellow Ink Cartridge got over, I am trying to print a black & white print out this printer is not supporting
    • We just removed the black cartridge as it said low and as I was removing it black ink got on my carpet and now my new light grey carpet is ruined with several black ink spots
    • Like most printers these days, it wastes a lot of ink "testing" the ink whenever you put in a new cartridge and cartridges do not last very long (I miss the days of old printers that were much better built and lasted longer)
    • they are inexpensive, take up little space, look NICE, and the ink is cheap.
    • The ink is not expensive to replace and believe me when I say it doesn’t use a lot of ink as I print a lot.
    • The ink is affordable, so that's a plus
    • Would have been nice if the color ink they included actually had enough ink to set the printer up
    • During installation the display provides each step to get going.- Easy Ink Install:
    • Bottom line, find another printer that is willing to allow cheaper ink replacements, or lasts longer between replacement, or doesn't hamstring you as soon it decides you've run out of a single ink color
    • The ink is cheap too
    • I like the Brother brand for the reasonably priced ink
    • So I figure that since this occurs after the sun goes down and my ink is being drained, I have a "vampire" printer
    • Additionally, the quality of the printer is not that great, I purchased the recommended paper and ink that came with it but definitely not on par with the advertisement of it.
    • Very good I liked it
