You don't want it TOO tight, because it can damage the door knob.

Just be careful you don't lock the system too tight, because you can damage your door knob and even break it off or bend it

Just make sure you have a good door knob that is tight and this should hold up against a determined crook.

I initially gave this a bad review because it damaged a door knob because I cranked it too tight.

That said, you do have to be a little careful when you attach it to the door handle because if you jam it too tightly it will damage your door knob.
