I've had the brewer for almost 2 weeks and I am indeed mostly pleased with it, gives me the fast pot of coffee I was looking for and except for one time of a slight plastic taste it has been consistent

When making rice or pasta, I fill my pot with the cold water I need (generally less then 4 cups), pour the water in the reservoir leaving the lid up, remove the coffee basket, then put pot on the burner and close the lid... the water hits the pot hot enough to go ahead and add pasta or rice, and then move to the stove -- this shaves a few minutes off of dinner prep time as I don't have to wait for the water to heat up!
