It might be possible to get a better drip coffee maker for quality, but I think once you are at this point, you are better off investing in a grinder (freshly ground coffee tastes better), better quality and/or fresher beans (coffee goes stale rather fast and comes in many kinds), etc

I love this coffee maker, I haven't had any problems with the leaking carafe I see everyone else writing about, just wash the lip with dawn dish soap and make sure the lid is on correctly, seems to work for me, I am buying 2 more for Christmas gifts!!!

The problem is that water flowing to the carafe is controlled by the position of the water fill lid at the top of the unit, the door is prevented from inadvertently closing and starting water flow by being tilted back a few degrees beyond vertical, and if the unit is subjected to the slightest vibration the door will flip closed, and water will start flowing through the unit, and if the carafe is not present coffee flows onto the base of the unit and over the counter or whatever surface is supporting the coffee maker

I've never been able to make coffee as good as with the Bunn with any other coffee maker.

I do however recommend purchasing the plastic pitcher as it is easier when filling the machine.

It comes out very hot, but not as hot as when you use a percolator
