I had a catastrophic computer failure and assumed that I could never recover all my data from my hard drive without a lot of difficulty

I had the dreaded hard drive message "imminent hard drive failure" and decided to try to clone the drive before it failed rather than reload all the software and Windows 7, upgrade to 8, then to 8.1, and all the upgrades thereafter.

but, just in the last two weeks, I needed to recover data off of a drive inside an old WDTV Live Hub which suffered a LAN port failure and is useless without it
