I used this thing for a single file copy operation to dump the HDD of an old PC which was running Windows 98, to a modern PC running Windows 7.

I burned his files directly to DVD.

After the power supply on my notebook failed, I needed a way to recover files from the hard drive.

Worked exactly as described, no problems hooking up an old drive and transferring files from it.

Computer recognized the drive as an external hard drive and I was able to pull all of my pictures of my 1 year old son and other important files from the hard drive with no problem

As expected, the file system table was corrupt so my operating system (Windows 7) could only read the partition as a RAW file system format (not ideal for easy file recovery)

I ended up using the Recuva software suite to recover the files
