While not quite a match for the slightly more expensive Marantz integrated amplifier it is reasonably well built, offers a remote and has a polite sound.

If you want more bass or treble; buy a clean integrated amp with tone controls, not a poorly designed integrated amp that colors and distorts the sound of every recording you play

That old receiver was remarkable sounding... good resolution, smooth, large soundstage, and good overall response.
