I would recommend buying just the raspberry pi and a compatible power supply elsewhere.

Buying the separate is more expensive, and this is the best power source I've found for the pi.

a faulty power connection (internal) problem thus returned it for another.

I do not think it is a bad power brick, I bought two and both are doing the same thing.

I prefer reliable power from a power supply rather than a USB cable, so I recommend this kit

I am giving 4 stars because if you run an HDD plus the pi, the power adapter does seem to loose its ability to power both after about a year of use.

The power adapter from the CanaKit may not be outputting sufficient power

The power supply provides more than enough power, the heat syncs keep everything cool despite my overclock settings (70C at peak load, 60-65C for normal load).Canakit provides the best hardware in my experience.

The power supply came with a micro-usb extender that included a power switch - much more convenient than unplugging every time

Have a good quality power supply that can supply at least 2.5 amps @ 5
