    • A few weeks later, Canon seemed to have updated the software drivers: when we added the second computer, the setup was easy with no need to call Tech Support
    • It did required a long conversation with Canon Tech Support to get the scanner to work on our first computer.
    • Tech support determined that the cartridge was defective and overnighted a new one
    • Had to call tech support to get the scan-to-email set up (way more complicated than our HP); we never did get the email to the printer to work (the tech dismissed me when I asked by saying I wouldn't like it-what?).Loved the speed, loved the quality of the printouts, loved that I could put a stack of double-sided documents in the ADF and it would automatically scan both sides, loved the larger capacity paper tray
    • Tech support was easy to contact and hold time minimal
    • Tech support decided my black cartridge was also defective
    • After emailing tech support for a few days, the solution was that the magenta cartridge is bad and needs to be replaced
    • In the end I decided that (a) Only about 16% of the reviews were negative, (b) there was not a single compelling complaint theme running through the negative reviews, (c) it was worth risking $350 in the hopes of avoiding a $1000 and up expenditure for a more commercial printer.
