Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM Wide Angle Lens - Fixed

    • Very slow focus combined with very narrow depth of field equals out-of-focus photo
    • I ordered one of these babies, worried about the reviews saying that it had a soft focus
    • Sharp focus, buttery bokeh
    • It is true that using auto-focusing, sometimes the focus is not as precise as I do it with a maginfied live-view.
    • (I'd get TS-E 24mm II if that was the objective!)The focusing error with
    • Take 3-4 pictures on something static and see if the focus is consistent for each one or if it jumps between the 3-4 shots.
    • Very fast focus and good feel on my 7D.For anyone who loves
    • Combine that with fast focus and incredible
    • I wasn't missing focus (I know this because I also used Live View and it wasn't very good), it just wasn't sharp

    • This lens has very fast and accurate focus, and the images are incredibly sharp, even wide-open
    • This is not an issue that appears to be correctable with focus micro-adjust, because the focus is indeed sometimes perfectly accurate
    • We have a very nice copy of Canon's 17-55 f/2.8 for our 7D, but it falls down a bit in very low light (typically during the reception during first dance).
    • The video work I do often required a wide angle lens like this... so the f/1.4 does the trick
    • My other favorite prime lens is the 50mm f/1.4 which blurs things even more easily
