Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens

    • (1) The autofocus is not as fast as more expensive models
    • Bought this mostly for the 50mm and the F1.8, and because of great price, I did not like the older models because I invested in bigger and larger lenses
    • This one feels a little nicer and not quite as "cheap" as the older model
    • The autofocus is louder than more expensive models - this is only relevant if you are doing cinematography, the sound WILL show up in a video.(3
    • I bought the previous model, the 50mm f/1.8 II, a few years ago and regretted it because of its poor auto-focusing issue
    • There is a more expensive model (f/1.4) that could be a good upgrade in time.

    • Amazing lens & way better than the M II version by far
    • Ef 50mm 1.8 worked very well with the Canon EOS 5 D Mark III full frame.
    • I could say that it's almost as good as its L counterpart
    • It doesn't quite autofocus as fast as the L and the L isn't that fast
    • It's great for low light situations if you are looking for a sharp lens and you can't afford the L
