Best mat available for the dollars invested

After much research I found that EVERY vinyl mat will have the harsh smell and no matter the thickness of the mat it will stretch and not be flat

This mat has held up extremely well for me a 200+ LBS man using it for 6-8 hours a day with a decent amount of movement on a high pile carpet.

This mat suffices, but may not work for a very heavy person/chair

I am 220 lbs and this mat has not cracked or dented

So this mat was a bit expensive, but the polycarobonite material is very stiff so it does not dent under the weight of a chair with casters

If you have plush carpet with pile close to 1/2 inch (or longer), this mat will probably disappoint unless you don't mind chasing it across the floor a couple times a day

I then carefully lowered the smooth mat for bare floors onto it, taking care to keep the edges of two mats aligned, and taking care to get the rough top surface of the bare floor mat oriented correctly so the chair would have some surface to provide a little resistance.

Don't be penny smart and pound foolish, buy this mat and enjoy a good experience with no hassle.

Within about 3 weeks of the hairline cracks showing up, the mat started to crack rapidly.

The mats are completely unacceptable because a standard office chair sitting on them causes the center of the mat to sink into the carpet so far that the edges rise above the surface of the carpet 1/8 to 1/4 inch, creating a very dangerous tripping hazard for anyone walking by.

The properties of polycarbonate make it much more rigid than similar thickness vinyl or pvc floor mats.

We have new carpet and this mat let's the carpet "shine through" while protecting the carpet and letting my chair roll freely.
