The only downfall the first time it heats up it stinks (smells like melting plastic), mine smelled for 2 weeks

Unfortunately there is a burning plastic smell whenever the unit is turned on and the hot plate keeps heated even when you press the power button to turn off
-
After few uses started to toxic smells
-
Plus, the competing device only had two heat settings; smelled like burning electronics; and seemed like a fire hazard

I let it heat up and air out - Had to put a fan in the room blowing air out of the room and house ... left it that way for 1 h+ and yet afterward with a cup of water on it (the water only got to 105 degress F (41deg C) by the way) and it still made such toxic smells - drove us to clear the house again and pack it back up.

Horrible chemical smell upon opening and you can't even drink out of this cup immediately after pouring boiling water over it
