With all that said, it makes great coffee and the carafe keeps it warm much better than our last unit -- hot all day

and I have decided that the convenience of having the thermal carafe is not worth the trouble associated with this model

A thermal carafe may not fit the bill for everyone, but if you need a pot of coffee to stay hot for several hours without eventually tasting burnt, I highly recommend this machine.

The only minor inconvenience is that the stainless steel thermal carafe, while works great keeping coffee hot, it is heavier than glass carafe - a little more difficult to pour but having it right on the table and not up at the coffee maker is great

The thermal carafe itself has a serious design flaw that makes it impossible to pour water or coffee out of it without at least seriously dripping, and most often splattering liquid outside of the target container.

I guess (and this hurts) but in fairness I should say that if Cuisinart would make a nice thermal carafe to replace the one that comes with this coffeemaker and give it as a replacement for this horrible big mistake of a carafe, then I would give this Coffeemaker 5 stars due to the ease of set up/use, the heat of the coffee and the taste.
