Good set, though the lowest string isn't thick enough for me
-
I will give them another try in hopes of a better set, but if this is the standard then D'Addario should really consider the extended scale of 8-string guitars and ensure the strings are wound far enough.
-
and I bet always will make an outstanding product just this set was just not as good as it normally is

Nothing like a fresh new set of string
-
Without getting long winded, I had three high "E" strings unravel at the ball end, and one set that just wouldn't stay in tune, maybe some strings unraveling?Besides being out 4 sets and having a lot of frustration, I soldered the high "E" ball ends on the 2 sets left, a suggestion from Google, this is a thing, look it up

-
This set is perfect for me as I use to use 9-42 on my fender a few years ago and it was beyond perfect and this set emulates the feeling I had on my fender except with the added B and F# which I tune a half step down which is one tiny problem with this set, is that the low B and F# on this set is a little slinky on my 8 string which I'm aware is due to the fact that it's a lower gauge than the 10-75 set I used prior to this one
-
Great set
-
These effects are often over-stated in the marketing materials of coated-strings: they are real, but they are not usually anywhere close to the first thing that kills a set of strings

Not a great set for multi scale, but probably offers more even tension across shorter scale necks.
