D'Addario EXP16 with NY Steel Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings, Coated, Light, 12-53

    • The coating helps protect the strings from corrosion, so it is a big plus.
    • Many times, these coating will feel 'slick' or 'slippery' and, while reducing some string noise and extending string life, many players don't like that feeling.
    • For me, the best coated strings are the Elixir Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze, or the Polyweb for warmer tone.
    • Not terrible strings, but if you want better coated strings, elixirs or martin lifespan would do a better job.
    • No crazy coating, great feel, even better sound.
    • The coating is great too as I have had no trouble sliding my fingers up and down the frets
    • if you like coated strings definitely worth a try
    • Definitely sweet sound, and the coating is much easier on these old fingers!
    • But these sound great and feel fine, and the're the least expensive coated strings I've found.
    • These are great strings and I love the coating
    • It's because these strings ring like new very a very long time and the coating does not hinder the natural ring
    • These are easily the best coated strings I've tried
    • I have used D'Addario acoustic guitar strings for many years, and D'Addario's EXP coating works well for me
    • These strings are fine, but they feel too much like un-coated strings.
    • I wanted the durability and sound with out the crazy coating so after asking around, a trusted musician friend of mine simply posted "D'Addario EXP" on my facebook wall.
    • The coating doesn't disturb your playing at all
    • In my husband's opinion (a true audiophile in all senses of the word), "the D'Addario EXPs are the most natural-sounding, longest-lasting coated strings available that I have used."According to the manufacturer, EXP coated phosphor bronze strings produce warm, bright, well balanced acoustic tone and 4 times more life
    • They have some kind of gold colored coating over the plain strings, so it's not just the wrapped strings that are protected
    • so coated strings work for me.
    • The coating is nice, although I'm not sure if it made the strings feel smoother on my fingers.
    • Many times, these coating will feel 'slick' or 'slippery' and, while reducing some string noise and extending string life, many players don't like that feeling.
    • I agree with the other reviewer in saying they are the best sounding coated string out there
    • My favorite coated strings
    • ... it's a thin coating of the phosphor-bronze winding, like these
    • The coating just makes the strings squeakier and scratchier, flat picking or finger plucking.
    • I like that the coating is just enough to reduce some of the finger noise without effecting my tone.
    • The coating is not supposed to flake off on these because it is underneath the wrap
    • This means the coating won't flake off
    • Yes, the coating was flaking on the Elixirs' as stated above, but they sounded great for a long time.
    • If you like super-bright sounding strings, maybe you want regular non-coated, but these are probably the brightest coated strings available.
    • The coating is very light, if any and really hurt my fingers
    • The coating keeps them shiny
    • Good coated strings with nice sound for a good price
    • They were not as bright sounding or crisp as I'm used to with a new set of strings.
    • The coating on these strings is not as slick as on Elixir strings, but it's noticeably there in comparison with the standard D'Addarios.
    • If you have a too bright, 'brassy' sounding acoustic, try these out
