Dayton Audio DTA-1 Class T Digital AC/DC Amplifier 15 WPC

    • I have quite a few decent smallish speaker sets around my home, and thought it would be great to set up a system in my bedroom
    • I need lots more power for my high-fi, even with very efficient speakers.
    • But shortly afterwards the amp smelled like it was burning and my right speaker popped
    • The speakers never have any problem with the levels on the tracks I tried
    • I've been wanting one of these since seeing them used with computer speakers and solar panels almost 10 years ago but when they became harder to find and more expensive at the same time decent sounding rechargeable portable speakers were becoming commonplace I lost interest
    • These speakers are FAR better than the Radio Shack ones; those have now been consigned back to their place in my basement
    • Excellent speakers.
    • People can't believe that something so small let alone running on a handful of batteries can drive speakers like
    • And I must say I currently have them connected to relatively insensitive speakers (86dB
    • Note: Don't try to use it with speaker wire much larger than 18 AWG, the little inexpensive speaker connectors aren't made for heavy gauge wire.
    • Tired of poor wireless speakers performance, I bought this product to obtain wireless benefit and be capable of manage my play list from laptop/phone anywhere, this exactly what I got
    • so I guess I have a T amp with no right channel functionality and a potentially messed up right speaker
    • However, with a more efficient bookshelf speaker with a small woofer andrating of 90 DB or better at 1 watt, I am sure that the bass response in these amplifiers would be more significant
    • I would really like to try this amplifier with my Klipschorns (which, I believe, are the most efficient speakers ever produced - 105dB @ 1watt/1meter - but the speaker cable I use is too thick to fit in the Dayton DTA-1 Amplifier's connectors and at this stage of my life I am not about to move the 175-pound (each) Klipschorns to change the cable
    • The best aspect of this product is that you can save the money you would have spent on a larger amplifier/receiver and put it towards better speakers from a real hifi company
    • used to drive NHT super Zeros - not very efficient speakers 88 db/w plenty of loud enough for small NYC apartment
    • Well, all that A-B testing put some wear on the really very flimsy speaker wire connectors at the rear.
    • I am using it to power a pair of quality BIC bookshelf speakers to make a fine speaker system for a computer
    • With these highly efficient speakers it produces high sound volumes at a low amplifier setting, keeping away from the distortion area
    • so I guess I have a T amp with no right channel functionality and a potentially messed up right speaker
    • Besides the flimsy speaker connections, I didn't like the volume control which is physically so
    • Enough clean power for small passive speakers I use for my computer.
    • If you have a pair of decent speakers around and want to light them up from a cellphone or echo, this is it
    • It this amp + the MB42X speakers sound as good if not slightly better than most portable setups in the 150-250 price range that I have heard
    • Overall, excellent sound quality and sound stage on fairly cheap speakers.
    • It drives small speakers great.
    • Both of my parents (I am a highschooler at the time of this review.), immediately complained but when my dad heard one of the best speakers in the house near-field he stopped
    • I've been wanting one of these since seeing them used with computer speakers and solar panels almost 10 years ago but when they became harder to find and more expensive at the same time decent sounding rechargeable portable speakers were becoming commonplace I lost interest
    • I don't think those speakers ever sounded better... in fact, I had no idea how good those speakers were
    • I thought for sure that with it being so small, it was probably just a gimmick item like the little amplifier one might find in tiny portable speakers.
    • Way better than some expensive computer speakers.
    • I have quite a few decent smallish speaker sets around my home, and thought it would be great to set up a system in my bedroom
    • IF you are using very sensitive speakers.
    • you have decent source material and decent speakers, this really sings
    • Its wired to a cheap un-powered sub, which passes through to left and right speakers
    • It won't hold up driving your main speaker setup but, as many of the other review say, if you have reasonably efficient speakers, you'll get a LOT of good sound from a tiny and extremely cheap package.
    • If you want to achieve a decent volume, you'll need reasonably efficient speakers
    • Surprisingly powerful, drives the speakers to louder than I would ever need.
    • Surprisingly good at powering my little Wharfdale speakers.
    • This is more than enough for near-field and enough to fill small-medium sized rooms as long as your speakers aren't insanely insensitive (under 86db at 1 meter with one watt)
    • It drives the speakers loud enough for my liking and fills the garage with good sound while I toy around
    • Match it with some good efficient speakers of around
    • While not a powerhouse on wattage, it has plenty of power for efficient speakers (90 db or greater) even in larger rooms
    • The wire clips are a little flimsy, you're going to need efficient speakers for this
    • This is a setup I highly recommend as it is very discrete and gives you almost unlimited options of source content in the palm of your hand (there's an app for everything - internet radio, itunes, the Remote app, etc. etc.).
    • The LED also sticks out some so covering it in electrical tape doesn't look as clean as it could.
