After working for days with various hardware and software that claimed to be "the solution" for extracting and working with files from a Sony Handycam super 8 formatted tape, I finally came across the Dazzle Converter

dazzle has its own pinnacle movie making program which recognizes the signal from dazzle analog converter

I loved the actual converter.
