This monitor has a Good Picture but not great

The semi gloss finish is more than enough to eliminate screen glare while there's less grainyness and thus a sharper picture than the Dell.

Since the beginning I have been unable to get picture perfect screen -- I've calibrated it with the Spyder device and it did not improve the picture quality

The Dell has slightly better picture quality and the Asus has better everything else.

Just using the DVI cable (and not the available DisplayPort Adapter Cable), I have received the ability to have clear, bright, vibrant picture without glare or any of the other issues about which I read.

The picture is excellent, hooks up seamlessly with my Macbook pro 13 (via Matrox DualHead2Go Digital M) and I've never enjoyed working at my desk more

Particularly of note is that the VGA delivers a very crisp picture so long as the VGA port on the computer you're connecting to it is also high-quality - being an analog port, VGA signals can be less crisp if either connector is not high-quality, and many less expensive monitors skimp on VGA port quality (as do many laptops that still include them).

Lowering the brightness seems to help; you can turn it down to zero even and still have a bright picture
