It has an elegant design and a great stand (adjustable height, tilt, rotation), and I got the 1920 x 1200 resolution I wanted to give me a few extra vertical pixels compared to the typical 1080p monitors.
Normally with this orientation you have to deal with looking at a shrunken version of your picture since the height will be limited by the height of the screen
person.edit2: I wouldn't otherwise rate this down except this monitor is falsely advertised as "adjustable height"; the height is adjustable in normal mode, not reasonably adjustable in pivot mode (therefore defeating the purpose of getting a pivoting, adjustable-height monitor; you might as well just get a random monitor and a VESA mount for an extra $20-200 depending on your needs)
The world needs more quality 16:10 monitors with adjustable height
GREAT VALUE.Oh, and a great bonus is the adjustable height, and you can rotate the monitor into a portrait
My only complaint about this is that the included stand does not pivot between portrait and landscape.

The stand is excellent, very sturdy and adjustable in all directions.
A super great feature is the very adjustable ergonomic stand.
The stand, while not as solid as Dell's older models, is still pretty decent
Overall, I highly recommend the U2412M as its the best bang for your buck for an IPS monitor in the $300 range.
If I had it to do over, I would still buy one of these again and recommend the U2412M to others looking for a reasonably priced monitor with great performance.

This is revealing, since when emursing myself in reviews for monitors, I started to feel like the 2412M would be a 'compromise'
Returning them and getting the correct U replacements was straightforward, although cumbersome (this was an order of 14 monitors, so could have been worse).
I guess I will open a customer support ticket instead, but no, this requires an order number, which of course I do not have since I bought it on amazon

I'm not a techie, but I did need a big screen for work, researched what was out there thoroughly, took it all in, and landed on the Dell Ultra Sharp U2412M 24-inch
Not as accurate as an EIZO as it's been compared to, but very close and a much better value for most applications in a design, retouching, or prepress environment
Conclusion: out of the better-packaged box, the Asus PA248Q offers a higher quality display in terms of colors and a more uniform IPS glow, at the expense of more input lag than the Dell
Rather than price, I was more bothered with second cons as I needed a single computer in home as well as in school with all required softwares for my academic work which I might need to access anytime

After I started using this monitor, I realized my eye strain was much less than original LCD screed that came with the computer

It's another REV A00 and has the horrible yellow tint issue!

Tried an Asus, but had issues with dead pixels and horrible light bleed
Backlight bleed was so terrible, I thought it HAD to be the result of defective units
I tried 27" monitors but in every case there was a problem with them - color desaturation, glass chips, LED bleeding, dead pixels, stuck pixels, defective ports, etc.
