Yes it's made of smoky looking plastic (looks good and is quite well made actually!) and plastic quite often has a static problem

Plastic hopper a bit cheap can crack easily.

I wish the big manufacturers would look to go back to the old way and use glass or find another static-free plastic for kitchen devices or maybe even the hard resins like the cheaper watch crystals.

The grinder hopper is plastic, which doesn't really seem like a big deal, until you grind for the first time.

I hate to do that, but I'm frustrated by how frequently is doesn't work as it should
