Overall the Direct Sound phones do a much better job of cancelling all frequencies of ambient noise

However, they do an excellent job of blocking background noise

I wanted a pair of cans that could do a reasonable job of reproducing the low tones my v-drums create

They are comfortable and do a pretty good job of blocking outside noise considering they have no active noise cancellation.

These things sound good and they do a solid job of isolating outside sound

These phones deserve to be rated at 4.5 or higher, because they perfectly accomplish the job that they were designed to do; but instead they sit lower because people refuse to do some research

These did the best job among a variety of mid price competitors, however the build quality was just not there, and this led to their demise

For the kinds of noise in my office, these did not do as good a job at isolation as the Extreme Isolation did.

After trying them out while playing the drums, I thought they actually did a very poor job of isolating sound, and frankly are bad for drumming
