The material is a kind of rubber and the entire cover is larger than your 3DS so if you accidently drop it, the extra room allows your device to bounce letting the cover absorb most of the impact (if it falls on the bottom piece.

Only complaint is that this cover messes with the shoulder buttons on the new 3ds so you are forced to cut out your own holes over them so they are not constantly being pushed down.

It was happening so much, that the back cover has gotten very weak and doesn't hold onto the DS like it did when we first purchased the game system

The dream gear cover is a well-designed cover with the exception of missing a cut-out for aame cartridges, no big deal at all for me.

Additionally this cover lacks a slot for the game cartridge itself.

One of the best features is that this case comes in two parts--one for the bottom and one for the top cover, which allows the user to display the graphics and colors of the new 3DS covers while protecting the bottom part of the console.

The 3D and volume sliders are annoying to get to, so once again, I had to (better this time) cut a little into the sides to improve use.- The inner folds of the top cover where the volume/3D sliders are stick up a little bit, but it's no real inconvenience

zero harm to my 3DS.My only grip so far is that the grip covers some of the N3DS's buttons, including the shoulder buttons.

I do not use the top screen cover.

Very thin plastic on top cover, did not fit well.

The ports are all in the right places and the rear R and L buttons are still sensitive and it gives those buttons a nice trigger effect
