I had a tough time extracting it to the point I broke a piece of plastic off from the detector

I put batteries in, plug the charger in, then something pops inside of it (we all know this kind of "pop", never a good pop to hear :), and here we have it: worthless piece of $20 plastic

The battery charger was a useless piece of trash/rubbish.

I honestly feel that if I would have left this sorry piece of junk alone it possibly would have caused property damage

My Second EBL 906 unit seems to work better on AA and C

I have a variety of types (AAA, AA, C, D, & 9 V) and a variety of rechargeable brands (Eneloop, SunLabz, Amazon, Tenergy, etc.
