It's probably just me, yet the 3rd-gen is huge like a big fat donut, Amazon should just have stuck with the basics for the Dot.

I own a 2nd gen and it works like a dream!

I have the 2nd Gen Echo Dot before, it sometime may lost the Internet WIFI connection, but the 3rd Gen much stable

I recommend the Dot 3rd Gen.

didn't hear the timer on my 2nd gen dot, but the 3rd gen is so loud that you'll hear it for sure

The sound quality is a substantial upgrade over the 2nd Gen. Like other reviewers I initially thought the sound was too full and too deep, but after getting used to it while still listening to 2nd Gen I much prefer the 3rd Gen.
