While the speaker is amazing for the size reactivating echo takes me either yelling over my music or getting within a few inches in order for the wake word to initiate

That said, most people buying a Dot aren't looking for a "music player" and probably plan to pair it with a more capable speaker

This version of the dot is the first one I would recommend to someone who is interested in a smart speaker but not willing to spend much

The Echo recognizes voice commands (we are on a steep learning curve with Alexa’s skills, but we’re getting there), plays nice with the Fire TV, and the little speaker sounds really good.

I liked the speakers improved quality for Music but for the dialogue it was more clear in the older version

The sound quality is much improved, enough so that it could be adequate as a speaker for small spaces such as a bathroom, office, or small bedroom, but it's still not going to blow you away or anything

The speaker on this generation is much better than the previous, and it looks sharp.

One new feature for the 3rd generation Dot is a little puzzling to me: You can pair two Echo Dots in a "stereo mode," giving you essentially left and right speakers.

Not really feeling the sound quality, if you turn it up too loud it starts to sounds like a 80’s boom box which isn’t very good
