ecobee4 Smart Thermostat with Built-In Alexa, Room Sensor Included

    • Simply put, the sensors are slow to react to changes in temperature and then only poll ever so often
    • As several of you may experience, one sensor alone is just not sufficient
    • I really like having the extra sensors
    • However, despite the features and useful sensors I felt that the Ecobee4 felt and looked very cheap on the wall for the price
    • I love the sensor and the ability for it to follow you and tweak the comfort level for the room you are occupying.
    • The extra sensor works as advertised
    • but I soon read the many issues with Nest not having a remote sensor and how they can really damage your HVAC system because of the way they are designed to operate without a C
    • The remote sensor is also very useful
    • I also wish the extra sensors were cheaper than $80 for 2.
    • I love the sensor because I have a townhouse and the upstairs suffers, this helps create a balance
    • These thermostats are also not at the point where they have adequate sensors to tell on their own.3
    • The additional sensor has been valuable to get an average temperature reading across the living room (where our ecobee is installed) and the kitchen next to it in another room
    • It is a decent thermostat with networking capabilities and fancy sensors that can be distributed in the house to help with getting temperature right for the zone that's occupied
    • The extra sensor is nice to know what my upstairs bedroom temp is at vs my downstairs great room
    • I enjoy the thermostat and the sensors
    • The external sensors that can be put in other rooms is also great and can let you reduce the temperature in an otherwise warmer room or increase the temperature when you are working in that cold side room!
    • The only negative was the one defective sensor and that is was from Gen 3.
    • Also, the remote sensors are very useful when you want a room to dictate the temperature where the thermostat isn't located
    • Has a faulty sensor as well.
    • Working no problem and gives me control over my bedrooms (the remote sensor is great too for monitoring kids bedroom temp
    • Very easy to install and the additional sensor is priceless.
    • I bought the additional pack of two sensors so am using a total of 3 remote sensors as well as the sensor in the Ecobee thermostat
    • The features on this are nice, and the external sensor is a great touch, but it just really failed to wow me
    • I researched both Nest and ecobee thermostats before deciding on the ecobee as the smart sensor technology was what persuaded me
    • The thermometer has an option to pull the average of all sensors attached or ignore certain sensors.
    • Also, the lilbee sensor is great for knowing if my daughters room is to cold or to hot while the other parts of the house may be okay.
    • After I had it set up to my liking I installed the Sensor in my daughter's room.
    • and I like the remote room sensor
    • The remote sensor also just doesn’t work
    • Ecobee's remote sensor solved that issue
    • The sensors are great.
    • The additional sensor is helpful, I keep it in my bedroom so that my nighttime settings look only at it to keep my room comfortable as I sleep.
    • Good smart thermostat and love the remote sensors
    • So, if the house was in away mode, and then cranks the AC when we get home, it would be 3 or more degrees too cold because the sensors are still cooling down while the rest of the air is good and fine
    • The sensor works as advertised, which makes it more comfortable sleeping at night
    • First time I ordered, missing parts (no wall plates or screws, plus a defective sensor)
    • The sensor is the best
    • Has a faulty sensor as well.
    • You can make a myriad of schedules, on the fly adjustments, vacation schedules, and make use of the on-board sensor and included free-standing sensor to tell when rooms are occupied and have the thermostat adjust settings for a cold spot.
    • The sensor was very easy to install as you simply hold near the thermostat, pull the plastic battery tab and the thermostat automatically recognize it and asks to add it.
    • Thermostat remote sensor only works when someone is in the room moving.
    • It's not letting me pair the sensor as well
    • I like the remote sensors as now I can check on the different rooms of the house anytime.
    • I love the room sensor that comes with the unit!
    • My house is three floors, so it tends to turn on the fan relatively often to even out the temperature, in that respect, the extra sensor is really great
    • Pairing SensorsI recommend pairing sensors 1-by-1
    • Both recommended to not use this or the nest because they don’t have a dedicated outdoor sensor and it struggles turning my second stage of heating on when it’s below 35.Contacted ecobee though my process
    • On time delivery, excelent tstat w/sensor
    • The remote sensor is an added bonus
    • The extra sensors seem to work as well.
    • My thermostat is located in a hallway so we love the remote sensor, we place in on the living room table and it keeps us warm Vs having to raise thehallway temp and quess what the living room area is
    • I love the additional sensor, lets me take the temperature in both rooms and balance accordingly.
    • After debating between both the ecobee and nest, I chose the nest since the sensor had the greatest benefit for me
    • Another shortcoming I discovered is, if you’ve put a sensor in a room that doesn’t cool well, asking the system to cool it isn’t much help, because the room doesn’t cool well to begin with
    • I do like the sensors and the reporting capabilities.
    • Another flaw: It has this great sensor for another room
    • The sensors are useful, true, but take some getting used to figuring out how they work and effect the function of the thermostat
    • But the ecobee shows up in homekit with what looks like redundant sensors
    • Enjoy the remote sensors and Alexa features
    • I like the second sensor that gives me accurate averages
    • Do not waste your money on the smart sensors unless you have a multiple story home that requires more than 1 AC/Furnace
    • Remodeled an old house and thought the remote sensors would be beneficial.
    • The additional sensor was more accurate.
    • Having the remote sensor gets the house cooling down (and warming up) a lot sooner than our old unit.
    • a bit expensive/sensors lack a low battery indicatorNo user manual included in packageNo online user manual documenting features, only various support articlesSmall bug in reminder settingsOuter case not as stylish as the metal ringed Nest thermostatNot Z-wave
    • No love here, I foolishly purchased the Ecobee w/sensor and 2 more sensors without realizing that sensors are worthless without automated registers to direct the warm/cooled air to those sensors calling for either
    • , how easily it connects with the Amazon echo, how awesome the sensors are, how great it is to have another echo in the house
    • Also sensors are basically useless
    • until after I had everything else installed, apparently they can’t just send the missing sensor.
    • Nest also lacked remote sensors, which was key because temperatures in different rooms within the HVAC zone are often quite a bit different.
    • The remote sensors in theory are neat but don't seem to actually do anything noticeable with the comfort level in my house
    • The sensor is also helpful for my 3 story house where in the winter
    • I love the little sensor as well
    • I love the little sensor as well
    • Second, the portable sensors.
    • Just an expensive thermostat that's not very smart, and a handful of overpriced sensors that don't want to re-associate it with it
    • Nest has nothing like this and the remote sensors are superb!
    • , probably i got a faulty sensor?
    • No love here, I foolishly purchased the Ecobee w/sensor and 2 more sensors without realizing that sensors are worthless without automated registers to direct the warm/cooled air to those sensors calling for either
    • I like having a second sensor in the house.
    • mode.-With how expensive the sensors are it would be nice to see them integrate with Alexa better
    • It works great, the sensor is upstairs and the Ecobee 4 is downstairs
    • The extra sensors are a bit pricey so really consider where you actually need it.
    • These sensors are great and when added to a Smart Hub they can be used to trigger a flow based off motion or temperature
    • I like the extra sensor, but otherwise the ecobee4 is not as refined as the Nest.
    • I bout an Ecobee4 for my downstairs system, and still dont know what the sensor is practically useful for
    • Love having the extra sensor for use upstairs
    • The sensors adjust comfort where you want it.
    • Also, having the option of placing the sensor for the thermostat in a different area was great for one of my thermostats which is strangely located
    • Another flaw: It has this great sensor for another room
    • It is also very easy to move your portable sensor around (and change the location name of the sensor in the app)
    • The ecobee 4’s Alexa only supports a limited list of Alexa commands
    • Have not decided to connect and lose function(s) or sell.
