I never imagined in my lifetime that I would see a consumer printer that actually came with enough ink to last more than a few weeks.

It comes with enough ink to last 2 or 3 years, depending on how much you print.

It took about 30-45 minutes of my time as I needed to fill the tanks with all four inks (very cool part, no spillage, the ink stops automatically and when you pull out the bottle, no drips!), allow the printer to prime the ink into the tubing, install the software from Epson (comes on CD or you can download a copy), and run some tests on the printer, such as alignment.

My company made us all buy this Epson because of the free ink

Users are left using Epson's low-gamut ink, or risking expensive repairs with unreputable third party inks

It's great quality - cheap ink - and very reliable.

The ink container negates having to replace ink cartridges constantly

Refilling ink is a breeze and Epson has done a great job with the design of this set up

so you cannot accidently fill a tank with the wrong colored ink

Finally a somewhat affordable ink jet that will not break the bank when it comes time to replenish the ink.

I love the idea of a big ink well that you fill once a year.

The main selling point of the ET-3700 is the alleged "low" ink cost

I gave it one extra star because the ink is cheaper.

It does take a bit of time to go through the setup, which includes connecting to the network, software/firmware update (we've never figured out why a brand new printer needs an update), ink fill (as opposed to inserting cartridges), downloading drivers, and then testing the printer.

This product comes with enough ink to last you for a while.

So if you are tired of printers with chips preventing you from refilling cartridges and want a good printer that is easy to use and refill with either factory or brand X ink inexpensive ink, strongly consider an Epson Eco-Tank printer.

Does all the stuff I need it to do and the ink doesn't drain me

Yes, the ink will ruin your clothes if it comes in contact with them

The ink is much easier to fill in this printer, and Epson has set it up so you cannot put the wrong color in the wrong ink well

I'm hopeful that due to the replacement system of the ink that it will not be so expensive to refill as that is where most companies make their money on their printers, through proprietary ink refills that are even computer-chipped to force you into buying their product.

I had to press downward on the bottle in order to engage the release mechanism that allows the ink to fill the printer's ink well

Filling the ink wells initially was very simple and the one thing Epson did was make it IDIOT PROOF, since I am sure there are those out there who might absentmindedly try to put the wrong ink color into the wrong well, which would be a disaster when going to print

but ink is so inexpensive!

After I went through initial setup of the printer, I ran some test copies of color photos (more on that later), at which time the Epson print queue dialogue box pops up (on your computer screen) and displays the level of ink in each ink well color

Ink is easy to fill but the black ink is a tinge too light.

After 4 years print head needed replacing so having read some reviews I opted for the Epson Workforce ET-3750: BIG MISTAKE.Pros; love the ink wells - I go through so many cartridges it was a joy to have the ink well

Once the ink in the wells have properly charged the print heads, you will notice that the ink well levels have gone down about 15% (you can see ink levels through transparent windows on the front of each well), at which point you are prompted to re-insert the almost empty bottles to draw out most of what was left in them

Wish I still had my 3 year old Epson - even though the ink was expensive it printed well and was efficiently fast

There is no way to put the wrong color ink in the wrong tank because they are all keyed to prevent that.

But, don't throw away those mostly empty bottles because there is still some visible ink in the bottles, which you can use in the near future, to top off the wells after printing some documents or photos, thus not wasting any ink

Here's the bottom line: you're over-paying for a very basic printer that comes with a lot of ink and has cheap ink refills.

(yeah the ink may be cheap, but it prints worse than printers I used 20 years ago).

It's a higher cost to buy an inkjet style printer, but it offsets with cheap ink refills, and the bottles included in the box will last you about two years.

Firstly, there’s a risk of carelessly putting the wrong ink in the wrong tank

All in all, a little investment of time upfront is well worth the claimed long lasting ink

It's only selling point is the cheap ink.

The ink is super easy to load, and will save us a bundle of money over the life of the printer

I'm sure there is a good reason for the hefty footprint of this printer (its twice the size of our last Epson printer), but to me, the features are similar to our old printer except for the really cool ink tanks, which honestly don't take up much more space than the old cartridges

Based on our normal relatively low household usage, I predict it came with enough ink for 3 years of printing.

The best part is I do not have to worry about expensive INK.

Ink (at least this liquid ink) is cheap.

I saw this Epson printer and while it was considerably more expensive than the liquid gold ink printers, the ink was cheap

The tanks weren't actually empty yet, so I still have more ink in the second set of bottles to top off again

I was told the reason for that was that people steal the ink by siphoning it out of the tank

We currently have an HP Office Jet Pro 8600 that we have had excellent luck with, but the ink is very expensive

Epson has done a good job of making the ink filling directions understandable and making the actual process as easy as possible.

Printer manufacturers for years now, including Epson, have been almost giving away printers so that we have to buy overpriced teeny tiny ink cartridges and this is biggest reason I stopped printing unless absolutely necessary

The problem is that inking these printers drives me to the poorhouse and I often stop printing for months at a time simply because I can't afford the ink or the photo paper

This is a great little inkjet printer that does not use expensive ink cassettes.

While this may seem like a long time, it is worth it because, a) the ink wells are huge meaning a lot of printing before they run dry, and b) Epson gives you two bottles per color; each ink well holds one bottle

Ink was easy to install

It is soooo nice not having to replace costly ink cartridges all the time, and not having to figure out how to recycle ink cartridges

The quality of the product labels produced on the same Avery labels was outstanding and not visually different than the HP7520.Loading the ink with the bottles, in my opinion, was trivially easy and clearly thought was put into the system in this regard (the bottle stops filling the tank when the tank is nearly full, and didn't leak during removal even when the bottle had ink remaining in it)

If you follow the directions closely you fill the tanks, then charge the ink through the screen prompts, and then top off the tanks with the original bottles.

The print quality is good and I find that I print quite a bit more now that I’m not bound to foolishly expensive ink

This ad does not mention that you have to replace a "maintenence box" quite often where ink gets dumped

The box contained enough ink to fill each EcoTank, and an extra set of ink, one full size bottle of each color, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black.

I started by filling each tank with the appropriate ink

There is enough ink included in the box to fill up the tanks twice which should be enough to last for two full years of average use

I highly recommend that you set this up when you are *free* from *interruptions* as you want to make sure that you put the right color ink in the correct tank, as there are no do-overs on that part.

Besides being great for mobile printing, the fact that you do not have to constantly buy expensive ink cartridges, (that are also getting harder to recycle) makes this a real winner.

Replacing an HP printer and all that expensive ink

For only $54.00, I had enough ink to last what I thought would be two months - compared to over $100.00 for the HP cartridges - which last at best, three to four weeks with the volume of color printing that we do.

No disposable ink tanks or wasted colours so better for the environment.

In last couple years I started buying generic cartridges which, although relatively inexpensive, seemed to be poorer quality ink and ran out more quickly.

I love that the ink is so easy to reload and involves almost no waste, and I love that you can view the ink levels from the front and don't have to just "trust" it to read a covered cartridge deep inside the machine

but I’m sure we will make up the difference by not having to purchase expensive ink cartridges

I have never had one in any of the 5 different inkjet printers that I have had, over the years, including HP (2 different models over time), Canon (worst ink hog on the planet), Brother, Epson XP-820 (also an ink hog, considering that I never print in color, and yet this printer exhausts all of the XP-820's color cartridges just by going through regular print head cleaning cycles even though I print exclusively in black/gray scale, by deselecting "color" when I print)

Reasonably priced ink refills, very long time between ink refills, eco-friendly (no disposable cartridges), fast, quiet enough, easy connectivity, easy to use

All page capacities for ink and toner were based off what the manaufacturer claimed, and the pricing for replacement ink and the printers was based off the best available Amazon price on April 23, 2018 using only genuine OEM ink/toner
