Epson Perfection V600 Color Photo, Image, Film, Negative & Document Scanner - Corded

    • For the price it has just about all you could want both for negative scanning and photos
    • It does amazing scans of multiple photos and super fast
    • Getting good scans used to take time and talent.
    • There aren't many All-n-Ones that can do good negative scans, so again, leave the All-n-One as your overall printer, document scanner, fax and copying device, and get a separate film/photo scanner
    • I wanted a good sharp scan and this wasn't it
    • I have not yet tried scanning slides or negatives
    • Not fast scanning but easy to work with
    • works perfectly at what I considered a great price fairly fast scans and worked great with negatives
    • Resolution is more than how many dpi - you need to take into consideration how small the source image is to begin with, so a scan of a print could work very well at 300 to 600 dpi, but a scan of a 110 negative is going to need anywhere from 1400 to 3000 or higher dpi to get a large enough image that will produce an 8x10 print.
    • P.S. for anyone undertaking a similar job be advised, photographic negatives make hugely superior scans than prints do.
    • The V600 is a bit plastically, and may not standup over the years like the Nikon has, but it delivers excellent scans for a very reasonable price, and I would buy it again.
    • Scan Slides and its works like a charm
    • My HP printer/scanner gave me a better scan.
    • The CD bundle also comes with ABBYY FineReader and Easy Photo Scan, all of which you are supposed to be able to download from their website, but they are outdated and are not compatible with my MacBook
    • I had been using my ten year old Epson 2450 scanner which was doing a great job scanning prints and negatives.
    • The scans were nice and speedy
    • The corners are darker and I wonder just how sharp a scan can be when the object is an arbitrary distance from the sensors.
    • It scans at a much higher resolution than one of the small slide scanners, scans two strips of negatives at a time and has a nice interface to preview the scanned negatives and pick which ones you actually want to scan to digital (so the color negative scanning actually breaks up the negs into individual pictures from which you can choose).
    • Wonderful for pictures, easy scan software! It is hard to find standalone scanners now - but we needed something that was just for that purpose.
    • There is a sensor near the lid hinge that needs to be clear of anything that blocks light from the negative scanning light inside the lid - blocking this makes the scanner think that the panel that covers the lid light is in its place and you are scanning printed material.
    • Flat bed scanners are versatile and good for scanning delicate old damaged photos
    • The quality if the scans are great
    • Great, scanned over 300 old slides in 1 week, color fixer. & back ground lighting is fine, worth every penny.
    • I do love the scans it produces when the pictures are old and yellowish / pinkish.
    • My first few sets of slides were fine except the scan took well over 6 minutes for 4 slides
    • It does a good job and would rate higher if scan was faster.
    • Performs negative scans well if you can figure out the holders and the software.
    • Happy with the scan quality and ease of use, but the "auto crop" feature was quite a thorn in my side during the process.
    • This generates much nicer scans.
    • Any special photos she may want to enlarge or are of particular sentiment, she waits for me to reset the parameters for the best quality scan, which really come out stellar for the price of this unit
    • I haven't mastered this thing yet, but so far the scans look great
    • I'm going to have to move one, great scans or not.
    • Why a company like Epson, the creator and manufacturer of such great scanning products, would not include capabilities for 110 filmfor a product that is designed to transfer negatives (no less), is absolutely incomprehensible.
    • I'm still learning how to use the V600 and have gotten some nice scanned and prints
    • I have been using the Epson scan technology with my Mac OS and using the digital Ice to clean the photos up pre scan
    • The scans are flawless, and you can do some very high resolution scans.
    • Decent scanner for documents, but the photo negative scan function freezes constantly and requires multiple reboots and retries.
    • Even when I stick the sketchbook or notebook in the scanner, instead of cutting out each individual page, scans show minimal glare and almost no gutter shadow
    • Protect the scanning glass with life....since in reality it is actually the one item on this scanner that guarantees you quality scans
    • The included templates help get the slides in position for easy scanning.
    • I have scanned mounted 35 mm slides, 35 mm black and white and color film negatives
    • I am very impressed how well the Epson V600 does getting crisp, clear scans.
    • The first scan (at 300 dpi) was impressive.
    • I leave all the scanning improvement options unchecked.
    • Its easy to set up, operate and does an excellent job and scanning and storing all types of photos
    • It has many great features and does an exceptional job of scanning slides and negatives
    • I have a lot more scanning to do, like about 3 years worth
    • Image quality is excellent and the scans are pretty fast.
    • I was extremely satisfied with the results from over 100 color negative scans
    • You can use either the automatic setup or the professional which has many more options and allows you to fine tune the scans
    • And if you lose their pre packaged slide scans you're screwed
    • Imagine my surprise and gratitude that the negative scans were instantly converted to positives
    • Pros - Very fast, clean scans of photos, documents
    • After reading the reviews, the V600 seemed to be getting the best marks for negative scanning
    • Pros - Very fast, clean scans of photos, documents
    • For the price it is quite versatile, but since I bought it for negative scanning, perhaps I should have bought something exclusive to that need.
    • Epson scanning program freezes after scanning only a couple of negatives.
    • Great scanning
    • It works great and the newer technology produces much better, brighter scans than the older model.
    • By the way: for my 5,400 slides it would cost at least $3,240 to have them scanned (plus shipping, plus hard drive they return the scans on, etc.).For that much money I could: buy this Epson v600 and pay friend, young relative, random weirdo off CraigsList, college student, neighbor $3000 to do the actual scanning for me!If anything I gave you: a template to plan your project/setup/costs & some easy start-up settings to get great slide scans
    • The Digital Ice image processing slows the scanning down drastically, and did not make any noticeable improvement in my trials, so I don't use it
    • Excellent negative scanning.
    • For the price, it was an ideal option for scanning color slides and color negatives
    • Great quality scanned photos
    • Easy to set up and use, great scan quality.
    • In some quick testing, I think the color restoration and dust removal before scanning is probably useless - the pictures look weird and blurry when I scan them in
    • The scanner is incredibly fast and very quiet compared to those I've had in the past, and the scans are perfect.
    • Really good scans
    • I'd rather spend two weeks getting 5,400 great scans then spend 5 hours getting crappy scans that look
    • The actual scanning is absurdly slow
    • I was expecting decent scans but not hopeful on slides
    • This is the best scanner for high quality print, slide and negative scanning
    • Primarily purchased this for scanning 35mm negatives, it's pretty good for home use and decent value for the price, just definitely not close to the scans you get back from a film lab.
    • I haven't even used the negative scanning attachments
    • Negative/slide scans work pretty well
    • A 35 mm color negative scanned at 2400 DPI (Yes, it uses DPI) at 24 bit depth will yield just over a 4 MB size JPG image
    • Epson software was fine, and initial scans were great, but I'm not impressed with Epson's build quality
    • If you're scanning old photos and negatives, buy some PEC-12 and PEC pads and clean the original media prior to scanning
    • I am retired now so I do have plenty of time for the slower scans but was impressed with the results.
    • The scan was easy enough but the hardest part of this whole procedure was in locating the power on/off button
    • Right out of the box it did a pretty good scan of old 35 mm color negatives that were very faded
    • The 64-bit version of Hamrick's VueScan produced superior color negative film scans eliminating almost all scratches on the lighter filter settings
    • I've only one complaint and that is with the Epson Easy Photo Scan software that comes with the scanner
    • Simple, fast scans, easy, and more than enough resolution to scan even the most detailed of photos.
    • The Epson Perfection v600 produces excellent scans of all types of materials.
    • Based on my experience so far, and I expected the scanning to be slow, I would buy the scanner again.
    • Epson software was fine, and initial scans were great, but I'm not impressed with Epson's build quality
    • Has accessories for scanning negatives and photo slides
    • Fast scanning speed is a plus
    • Yet, that said you can enhance scans by choosing to auto correct at the beginning or working on the image afterwards, which most of us in photography would much rather do.
    • I'd rather spend two weeks getting 5,400 great scans then spend 5 hours getting crappy scans that look
    • This error didn't effect other scans, only transparencies
    • While I do a lot of scanning for which a feeder would be convenient, I also do enough scanning where a feeder is not possible
    • Other than that, the scanner is very good, produces excellent high quality scans, the transparency functionality works wonderfully for slides or negatives
    • Easy to use, quick scanning at 600x600 dpi, and multiple photos at a time
    • Excellent negative scanning.
    • They have great settings and professional tools to help you get the best scan
    • Nice scans.
    • Super simple to set up and have already began scanning 35mm negatives.
    • Does negative scanning very well, though it is slow
    • Note that a slide/negative scanned then printed with the computer is not as high of quality as having a print made from the slide/negative, but that is to be expected
    • I'm not sure I would get any better scans from a vendor, but I definitely have a lot more control of the final product (not to mention the convenience of scanning instantly at home with personal care for my film)
    • Epson does a great job scanning photos and negatives as well, but you are limited to scanning photos no bigger than the scan plate.
    • File size for a 35mm negative scanned in full color to 4x6 format with Digital ICE is about 1.6M.
    • It is fairly simple to use, I am getting pretty good scans, most of the time, and it is fun to have some of the photos from when our kids were little on the digital photo frame, which is the main reason I purchased the scanner.
    • Prompt delivery, easy setup, good quality scans.
    • Happy scanning!
    • Beautiful scans on auto setting
    • I also tried the negatives scanning feature, using the neg holder, and it worked perfectly - it detected each individual frame, and cropped/corrected each one automatically
    • Great scans from negatives.
    • The only way around that is to not use the program while scanning, which defeats the reason why I purchased this scanner.
    • The scans are very good
    • The automatic easy mode has drawbacks: it only allows 1200dpi scans at the highest setting; even though it's only 1200dpi it seems to take longer than the professional mode at 2400dpi; even though in the manual it says you can skip the preview
    • SHINY SIDE GOES UP for slides (dull emulsion side down). For a little more money, and a bit more time you'll have USEABLE FANTASTIC scans
    • Just love this thing, phenomenal scans
    • If you do a lot of picture/slide/negative scanning, this scanner is well worth the money.
    • It does a good job of scanning old 35 mm slides and negatives
    • Performs negative scans well if you can figure out the holders and the software.
    • Performs well with Windows 8.Film scans work well with printing salon quality photographs.600 to
    • The scanner's footprint is larger than my last Epson flatbed scanner, which was a bit inconvenient, but that's a small price to pay for such speedy scanning
    • So easy to use and makes great scans of pictures, slides and negatives
    • You can always blur your scans later if you wanted to
    • This takes care of the problem, but the extra scan is a bother.
    • The scanning of printed material is excellent
    • After several hours of troubleshooting, I discovered the problem is with film scanning (photo negatives).
    • Flat bed scanners are versatile and good for scanning delicate old damaged photos
    • For well lit Kodachromes, the Nikon provides a sharper scan than the V600, even though the V600 has a higher dpi than Nikon
    • Easy to use and the scans are perfect
    • Also a nice feature is you can set the number of passes to whatever you want, to improve scanning
    • The ICE would hang the scan on one particular image and could simply not complete the job.
    • The scans look fantastic for 60-70 year old pictures.
    • Unfortunately, this didn't translate to faster scan times.
    • I had been using my ten year old Epson 2450 scanner which was doing a great job scanning prints and negatives.
    • The Professional version that supports film/slide scanning and OCR goes for $79.95.Summary: Out of the box film print quality is great
    • Beautiful scans
    • The quality on this scanner is great, however most people buy it for scanning film negatives and transparencies
    • First Epson I've ever bought and it has excellent scan capabilities.
    • I'm back to the Wolverine for negatives (fast, pretty good quality) but scanning remains a mystery.
    • Nice quality scans.
    • I shoot a lot of 35mm and 120 and this scanner does both with exceptional optical scanning abilities
    • This did a great job scanning to jpgs, which I could easily share with my brothers and sister via emailed zip files.
    • and I did some scans from photos that tuned out decent, but same issue next time; I can't get the darn thing to turn on.
    • As with any scanner, the best scans will result when you have a good photo or slide to work with from the beginning
    • P.S. for anyone undertaking a similar job be advised, photographic negatives make hugely superior scans than prints do.
    • Very fast scanning & precise.
    • Very fast scanning & precise.
    • Prints from the scanned negatives compare very favorably to old darkroom prints from the same negative.
    • I think it is called) in the scan software too useful as it leaves a lot to be desired, but the Photoshop elements software included helps more in that area when touching up later
    • There aren't many All-n-Ones that can do good negative scans, so again, leave the All-n-One as your overall printer, document scanner, fax and copying device, and get a separate film/photo scanner
    • Nice scans
    • Gave good clear scans both for slides and documents.
    • The manual could be better in explaining scanning slides or negatives.
    • * problems, such as by cleaning up photo/slide scans, actually did so
    • Epson does a great job scanning photos and negatives as well, but you are limited to scanning photos no bigger than the scan plate.
    • The scans are clear
    • It's major benefit concerns scanning film and slides.************************Update April 15, 2018I think that this will be my final update for this scanner
    • It allows me to get the PERFECT scan everytime
    • Easy hookup, good scans
    • Neg scans are great
    • If you want to start going to the max resolution you are going to spend a fantastic amount of time waiting because the scans get very slow very quickly much above the 2400 DPI setting
    • Put my photos in, click scan, wait, see result, split up the results into individual files
    • The photos will need some touch up in Photoshop but over all sharper and clearer scan than the G4050 ever produced.
    • I bought this scanner, based on all the positive reviews, because I wanted better quality slide and negative scanning than my old Canon
    • Excellent photo print scans at 1200 dpi, reasonably fast, with a good software interface
    • The 'Smart Scan' feature detect different imagaes in one scan and will separate them into different (ie
    • I can't provide non-Amazon links, but if you're seriously trying to get your best film scans, you need an Anti Newton Ring (ANR) Glass.
    • I was finally able to get the film (negative) scanning to start working again by uninstalling/reinstalling the software prior to each session.
    • Thank goodness my scans look good.
    • You can not make 8x10" negative scans on this scanner.
    • This is easy to use and the scans are great
    • The V600 generated large enough quality scans to create frame-able prints for the house.
    • Easy Photo Scan will be more responsive and you won't have to rescan your work if the software or OS crashes
    • good scan
    • It is solid (though light), reliable, and makes excellent quality scans
    • Also, the ICE technology really slows the scan down
    • I then have to click the Epson Scan progress window to "wake it up" and it continues to the next photo
    • It produces excellent scans
    • to setup - great photo scans
    • I tried what one user recommended, just scanning them and cleaning them up post scan
    • It does do a nice job scanning photos, but the whole reason I got it was to scan negatives
    • If your like me and have a couple of boxes full of photos you'd like scanned and you don't mind spending the time doing it, then this is what you're looking for.
    • I've been scanning negatives, slides and prints - thousands of them
    • The reason I'm not giving this one star is because the scanning is so great
    • Awesome product...super easy to set up and install...it even scans multiple photos separately...does all that it claims...scanning is a tedious activity...this scanner does an excellent job and allows you to edit your scans...worth it!!!
    • Epson software gave me excellent quality scans for 35mm negatives with the exception that much dust and dirt artifacts showed up in the scanned image
    • For top quality film scanning you would need a film scanner, but I think this flatbed scanner gives me good enough quality for my purposes (to view my slides on a computer or TV.)
    • I would have thought by its name it would be totally optimized for easy photo scanning but it is not.
    • Fast, and sharp scans.
    • Very good quality scans.
    • The Epson does scan negatives and slides which of course the HP does not
    • If i am a casual user, I would look for a scanner with better scanning software!
    • I had to find some better, more intuitive software to use with it but in reality, when I'm in a hurry, I find scanning with my S8+ phone a whole lot faster than clicking this thing and listening (totally bored) to it hum, waiting for it to mechanically scan each page like the copy machines that came out back in the 80's.
    • So, for decent slide scans here is a nice setting list
    • I love the scans that it gives
    • After reading other reviews about this scanner and the joys of troubleshooting and installing it with Windows 10, decided this was not the route I wanted to go for an already tedious and time consuming project (scanning thousands of photos, negatives, and slides)
    • Much faster scans than I expected.
    • Functionally seems perform like the V500 - very slow scans, but a bit quieter.
    • Set-up was simple and quick and the scans are remarkably accurate.
    • Despite this annoyance, the scans are really remarkable.

    • I was finally able to get the film (negative) scanning to start working again by uninstalling/reinstalling the software prior to each session.
    • Driver has flexible scanning options, which is especially helpful in fixing color problems, brightness, and contrast before it gets to Photoshop.
    • I bought this scanner, based on all the positive reviews, because I wanted better quality slide and negative scanning than my old Canon
    • The scans are great!
    • I have some negatives larger than 60mm that would not fit in the supplied holder, but managed to get good scans by making my own guide from a strip of black poster board.
    • Great scans when it worked, but it stopped powering up after the first year of very light use.
    • I found the scans to be outstanding
    • Much better slide scans than I could get with older equipment...more brilliant color and presentation
    • Great scans and much faster than my previous scanner.
    • The color and quality of my negative scans is just phenomenal
    • The V600 produced a blurry image using both the film holder and another scan placing the negative directly on the scanner glass.
    • Not as sharp as I'd like
    • The CSR was just as sweet as she could be, but she was as clueless as we were
    • We received it Saturday and I began to scan some photo prints as well as to rescan some I had scanned on the multifunction unit scanner.
    • Replaced my expensive HP Scanjet G4050 to use with my MAC because the HP was cantankerous & never worked as it was supposed to
    • therefore I'm disappointed because I feel I was mislead as to it's capabilities.
    • I scanned some negatives of a trip to Yellowstone Nat'l Park that were taken in 1964 and the results were as good as if I had taken them yesterday.
    • When I moved from Windows XP to Windows 7 a few years ago, the scanner would no longer work as it was not compatible with the later operating systems and it was time to retire it anyhow.
    • The more you use this the more you'll wonder if the process can be improved as it's quite time consuming
    • The holders come for 35mm slides and negatives as well as for other sizes, 127 and the larger b&w and color negatives from the 1950's
