After setting it up and using it, I HIGHLY ENDORSE this product - it scans easily and quickly, the controls are easily understood, has an option for the rare occasion when a paper document gets

The products were ok a couple years back, good enough for me to try again (twice)

So, in sum, the software never worked, the scanner developed hardware problems within a month, and Epson's customer "support" system appears to be designed for the sole purpose of making customers' lives so thoroughly miserable that they will give up in disgust and write off the loss rather than suffer through the nine hells of trying to get Epson to assume any responsibility for their shoddy products.

This time, they did offer to replace their defective product, but only if I agreed to let them charge my credit card the purchase price of a new printer as collateral against the possibility of my not returning the defective scanner
