Escort Max ll HD Radar Detector

    • I have always run RD without filters, because I would rather deal with false alerts than no alert
    • Not alerting to false alerts (non law enforcement/non speed recording radar): - 3 (out of 5) stars
    • A few other things I am disappointed in, after connect via Bluetooth with Galaxy S6, a mute function was some how activated that causes the detector to alert one time only to an alert and then completely silence the remaining alerts regardless of how strong the alert was
    • I'd rather be annoyed then miss the alert
    • It's degree of sensitivity and non-false alerts are pretty good
    • It is as sensitive as a Valentine 1, but is better at identifying and blocking false alerts without any additional hardware purchases or inputs from the operator.
    • When I first bought it the normal false alerts from the local stores etc would set it off
    • The Max 2 still has no real indication that it is using any form of intelligence/understanding of the signal other then locking out static false alerts (non threatening radar noise) through its onboard GPS and using other tricks (slowing the detector down or reducing its sensitivity in certain scenarios
    • It worked great, low amount of false alerts, great range, nice display etc
    • The ONLY way to stop the false K alerts was to turn off K, which, what if a cop is actually using K then im screwed
    • If you live (or regularly drive) in an area with a lot of falses and limiting these false alerts is the utmost concern to you (over price and detection range/performance) and do not already own the original Max, then I would recommend picking up the Max 2
    • Best of all when this goes off you'll actually believe it because it does not constantly give false alerts.
    • What I love most about it is now much better it is at avoiding false alerts.
    • That "other" alert pops up on top of the Escort Live app and locks up and blocks the map screen forcing you to "app & drive" (eyes off road on phone and having to select/touch the screen to clear that "other" alert)
    • The bluetooth connection is solid, and fewer false alerts.
    • This is a sensitive device (default alerts within 1 mile).
    • The visual alerts are still there (it displays onscreen - greyed out) but there are no repetitive audio alerts.
    • It only took a day of many false alerts and some reviews to realize it was an inferior product.
    • Unlike having a radioshack detector 15 years ago (lol), this unit gives plenty of warning and shows you distance and band(s) of source while eliminating all those false alerts like walmart or walgreens door openers.or other car adaptive cruise control, etc...
    • These dynamic alerts are arguably more of a headache for many then static false alerts (such as from door openers from your local store/Wal-Mart etc.)
    • still like it, but it seems to give off too many false alerts for cars with blind spot detectors and or ez pass cards.
    • As well, a single intersection or highway junction has multiple redundant separate flag/alerts, likely accumulated from separate people/events, for a speed trap meaning that on top of no cops having been seen you're getting alerts repeatedly as you approach that spot
    • While Escort has touted this unit as highly upgradable and they did do multiple updates to fix bugs and add a small amount of requests to the Max, the Max still has a long way to go regarding updating its firmware/software to continue to quiet the unit down from false alerts and to get features added multiple people have been asking for (more on this later). Conclusion
    • These dynamic alerts are arguably more of a headache for many then static false alerts (such as from door openers from your local store/Wal-Mart etc.)
    • However - the V1 still gives adequate notice if a slow-down is neededAbout 40 false positive K-Band alerts from the Max2
    • The bluetooth connection is solid, and fewer false alerts.
    • My old 9500 had the loudest and clearest audio alert, and the IQ (while not as clear as the 9500) worked perfectly well in all conditions.- The auto-mute function kicks in the mute more quickly than in older designs, meaning there is a chance you will miss an alert
    • Seems very accurate and is starting to learn were the false alerts are.
    • I wish I payed 100 bucks or so more to be able to see threat direction because there is so many false alerts
    • The false alerts were incessant and GPS did not screen them out.
    • the Max 2 last weekThe 9500ix has worked great, it does lock out false alerts, but it might take a little more than what Escort claims (3 times) to lock out those false alerts
    • (Although I can't get the voice recognition to work with WAZE which makes hazard reporting much more difficult). Finally - I had initially started the run with the V1 off and Escort ON - -Escort started blipping on Ka - off again, on again - - I got nervous - -Turned on the V1 - directions arrows said 'BEHIND YOU'Critical information NOT provided by the Max2********************************************12 Dec Update - - working better - -Still with an incredible number of useless K-Band alerts - (None from the Valentine-1)But - discovered the triple tap on the power plug to force a GPS lockout
    • More to follow.********************************************************************9 Dec - Initial entry:Had it for a week now - - right along side my old Valentine 1.Slick packaging and really nice bluetooth app link to the iPhone - -Great long distance alerts - - but THERE the praise ends
    • It has already begun muting false alerts in the areas where I frequently drive.
    • you live (or regularly drive) in an area with a lot of falses and limiting these false alerts is the utmost concern to you (over price and detection range/performance) and do not already own the original Max, then I would recommend picking up the Max 2
    • It's degree of sensitivity and non-false alerts are pretty good
    • This is arguably one of the single most important selling points of the Max (its ability to be intelligent and understand all the radar frequency and be able to receive, understand and sort out the signals, alerting the user to only legitimate threats and keeping quiet to the rest - false alerts)
    • After a month all the false alerts are gone (beside an occasional blind spot monitor from a near by car.
    • But I see it is continuously providing false alerts
    • Plenty of warning time and learning the locations of false alerts to later block them will make you as happy with this top notch detector as me and make it your favorite too.
    • It is a great detector after 1st month of driving I almost hardly hear it go off it will cancel all of the false alerts so after you hear it go off most of the time it will be a real threat.
    • You can turn off k band to get rid of false alerts
    • It has alot of false alerts...... they cant figure out how to stop false alerts from new cars side impact cameras.
    • so this is a good price!it saves the false alerts and Rear range is also great
    • Escort claims this radar filters out more false alerts from vehicle sensors but the truth is it is much more sensitive than the 9500ix and just picks up the false alerts sooner and for longer
    • The suction cup holder makes too much noise while driving, it doesn't get some of the speed traps which I know exist cause I drive by them daily, it gives a lot of false alerts
    • It can remember false alerts and then block those from sounding out next time.
    • I have had this a few days now and just went on a 200 mile trip with one false alert from bsm or cas equipped vehicles..that being said detection range is great on hwy
    • As more and more modern vehicles are getting these systems, more false alerts will inevitably result.
    • I am running this just like the Escort Smartradar which would have caught the K band alert and at least 8 false alerts in the 25 mile trip
